July 4, 200917 yr Ariza will fire his agent before his next contract is up. Most FA's should have went the Boozer route and either stayed in their contracts like he did or taken a 1 year deal. Next year Ariza would have gotten very overpaid may 7-8 million per year. All most teams can offer this season is their MLE, BAE, or veterans minimum.
July 4, 200917 yr Here's something interesting for the free agent market. John Hollinger at ESPN is writing that OKC-Thunder are going to stand pat this offseason, meaning that realistically only Portland has money to sign a quality FA for more than the MLE. Sacramento can, but most likely won't. The Thunder as they are now stand to have around 20 million in cap next season meaning they can sign a few very good pieces, or one huge piece to their lineup. They also have what should be two lottery picks (theirs and Phoenix's). Add that to a team that has a rising star in Kevin Durant and a team that played alot better down the stretch and OKC has a very bright future.
