June 16, 200917 yr ^ I would say the opposite actually. Well I was going to post that, my thinking is that if Ariza decides not to come back it's because he's a rising player and wants more of a role than what the Lakers can offer, with having Kobe as option #1, #2, #3.
June 16, 200917 yr Author Ariza would be a great fit for the Spurs, but I think the Lakers will attempt to lock him up this year, even if that means letting Odom go. It should be interesting to see how much money Odom gets and where he ends up. I've heard that Mark Cuban, in his infinite wisdom, is going hard for the Wizards' fifth pick in the draft and is offering either Josh Howard or Jason Terry. If that's the truth and I'm the Wizards, I take Josh Howard and laugh all the way to the playoffs next season. I also read on ESPN that the Celtics are looking at Amare Stoudemire, but that the deal won't be possible unless Rondo is involved, if that's the case, should the Celtics do it? I'm up in the air on that one, Kevin Garnett and Amare Stoudemire in the same front court would be an absloute terror to watch, but who runs the point? Do they go get someone like Rafer Alston?
June 16, 200917 yr You can't cut off your nose to spite your face...if they had the opportunity to bring Boozer in and didn't because of a past grudge, do you think that would help them in their efforts to retain Lebron past 2010? I doubt it. You don't pass up an opportunity to make your team a champion. Plain and simple. And, giving him a legitimate sidekick, would probably help a lot in keeping Lebron, which has to be their top priority. There are other players they can add, and yes if I were the owner and I let a guy out of a contract b/c we agreed on a deal I would not bring him in unless James said make it happen. I would look elsewhere. The best player they could bring in is Ariza IMO. The second best is Odom. It takes away a huge peice from the best team in the West and makes them the best team in the East.
June 16, 200917 yr Boozer and the Cavs did each other wrong. The Cavs tried to low ball him offering like 24 million over 5 years, telling him that was his market value. They had a mutual agreement to let him out, and Utah offered like 60 million for 5 years. Which would you take? Morals tells us we'd take the Cavs, but the NBA is a business. You better make all the money you can because your property to NBA owners. Also, the Cavs are under new ownership sense then. If LeBron is cool with it, the rest of Cleveland will be too. He was under contract and they only let him out of it b/c he aggreed to terms on a new contract. Sorry, but I don't see the Cavs doing him wrong there. If you say they could have matched I would agree. In no way did they do him wrong though.

Cavs low balled them because Gordan Gund was a tightwad. NBA players have to get market value, he actually went to a better team at the time, are you going to turn down 36 million dollars?
June 16, 200917 yr Why in the world would the Suns do that unless they are trading Nash too. Suns missed there window. Amare has pretty much stated he's gone in 2010. He has publically lobbied for either the Knicks or Wizards to get him, saying that he was better than Chris Bosh. Suns just may need to tear it down and rebuild. Get value out of Stoudemire, lose Shaq, Richardson and a Hill's contracts and get some youth.

They could have forced him to play 1 more year under his current contract for less than $1M. I'm not disputing that he could have had more. It's similar to what they do in baseball by buying you out of your first few years of free agency by paying you more up front while you are under the teams control. No matter what he had a deal in place so they let him out of his current contract, and he bolted. It was a smart but dirty move. I'd do what he did too once the money was offered. Doesn't make it right. My whole point is they may feel betrayed and not go after him. Not that he shouldn't have taken the money. I'd say 2 Eastern conference finals appearances plus playing for an NBA title is better than anything the Jazz have done in that time. I'd also guess the Jazz aren't happy that they overpaid him as much as they did.
June 16, 200917 yr Author Marbury? Did Boston and Marbury hit it off well enough in his stint last season for them to give him a shot? I doubt it, but you never know. Stranger things have happened. Marbury is garbage.

The ownership is different, the only two players who played with Boozer are LeBron and Big Z, both would rather win a championship then be a baby. He did what they would have done if the opportunity and circumstances were the same. Like I said, a better team at the time. That would have been a rookie Deron Williams (still good), Okur, Kirilenko, etc. who were a perennial playoff team except for the year before, which allowed them to get D Williams. Cavs had no talent around LeBron other than Boozer. Darius Miles, Ricky Davis and Co. just do not cut it. My question is who is going to have bad feelings? The fans? Only until his first 20 and 10 game. The ownership? Why would they it's different? LeBron? NO, Boozer would be the best player he's played with other than the Olympic or All-Star teams. If Boozer doesn't come it will be because he wants more money than the Cavs can package together, or he doesn't want to be there, not because the city of Cleveland feels betrayed.

You have a lot of questions. If I were the owner I would feel betrayed and possibly look for help from other players. Their most glaring need isn't PF. They can't guard Dwight Howard or Kevin Garnett. Boozer doesn't help w/ that. They struggle w/ long wing players and he doesn't help w/ that either. He should have been able to look around and see that LBJ was going to be great and do bigger things than the Jazz. He didn't go there b/c they were better.

For the last time it's a different owner then when he was there. How or why would Dan Gilbert feel betrayed? Outside of everything else the Cavs need another scorer. Boozer fits that. You can always get some bigger bodies for the paint or on the wing, scorers are harder to come by.
June 16, 200917 yr ^^^ And Kevin Garnett is more of a PF than a Center. Howard all you have to do is get a bigger body that can push him away from the paint. Outside of 3 feet he isn't a good offensive player.
