June 15, 200917 yr The season hasn't even been over for a day but the offseason rumor mill has started. What do you think will be some of the deals that will be made this offseason? Will LeBron James resign? Will Kobe? Will the Cavaliers swing a deal for Shaq? Does Orlando lose Turkoglu? What do they do with Rafer Alston? Will the Rockets bring back Ron Artest? Does Jason Kidd get dealt or signed somewhere else? Will the Celtics resign Garnett? Will the Lakers bring back Ariza or Odom? Or both? Will Chris Bosh go to Miami, or Cleveland? What deals/transactions do you see, or would like to see happen this offseason?
June 15, 200917 yr I'd like to see LA keep both Odom and Ariza, but that may be too tall of an order. If forced to choose, I'd rather have Ariza.
June 15, 200917 yr Cavs need to sell their soul to keep LeBron... Clevelands Free Agents... C Zydrunas Ilgauskas (Player Option) PF Anderson Varejao (PO) SF Wally Szczerbiak (Unrestricted Free Agent) F/C Joe Smith (UFA) C Lorenzen Wright (UFA) F Jawad Williams (UFA) Try and trade some of those guys and get LeBron a legitimate big guy, whether it be Shaq or someone else. They also need to get a shooter to go along with Bron. West is decent but maybe get an even better shooter than him. Edited June 15, 200917 yr by ScarHeel
June 15, 200917 yr The Mavs need a big guy (who plays big / not Dirk or 80 year old Dampier) and a point guard. Maybe get the PG in the draft as they have the 22nd pick. Ty Lawson if he falls that far or Jrue Holiday (UCLA).

Boozer was seen in The Cavs owner, Gilbert's seats during the ECF. Maybe a reunion there?
June 15, 200917 yr They will make some moves. Boozer was seen in The Cavs owner, Gilbert's seats during the ECF. Maybe a reunion there? I should hope not after the way he wronged them last time. He got a nice deal, but if he was all that concerned about winning he would have stayed. He could have at least given the Cavs a chance to match.
June 15, 200917 yr According to ESPN, http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?page=FreeAgents-09-10 , that's the free agents list for the upcoming year. This is what I would like to see from the top four teams I really cheer for. The Knicks Go after a big name player. Not LeBron, it's seems to out of reach to me. Go for a guy like Tracy McGrady, Amare Stoudemire, or Chris Bosh. I'm sure the Knicks could cut a deal for one of those guys, and then have a solid pick in the draft if they don't trade it away. The Cavs Please, please, please, trade big Z and Wally. Bron should stay in Cleveland, so land him a solid big guy, and a solid wingman to go along with him and Mo. I could see the Cavs going for Shaq, which is what I heard. Maybe a trade that would sent Z, Wally, some cash, or a draft pick, and get him. I wouldn't mind throwing West in there as well, since I would much rather have Booby Gibson getting more minutes than Delonte. As for the wingman, I wouldn't mind seeing the Cavs sign Bruce Bowen, or Richard Jefferson. The Nuggets Bring in two solid bench guys. The starting five will be among the best in the league next season, just adding two more nice bench players would skyrocket this team IMO. Start Billups, Smith, Melo, Martin, and Nene, then bring Anderson and Jones off the bench. Then sign someone like Kurt Thomas, DeShawn Stephenson, Chuck Hayes, or Kelenna Azubuike. Two of those four would be huge bench additions, and could battle for starting spots. The Bobcats Bring in two solid guys, and this is a playoff team without a doubt. They need to keep Bell and Radmanovic. I would go after guys like Speedy Claxton, Roger Mason, Steve Blake, and John Salmons. Not big name players, but guys who can really play well and could shine in a place like Charlotte.
June 15, 200917 yr Author I should hope not after the way he wronged them last time. He got a nice deal, but if he was all that concerned about winning he would have stayed. He could have at least given the Cavs a chance to match. The Cavaliers offered him I think half of what the Jazz offered him, I don't blame him for leaving.
June 15, 200917 yr Author If I were the Cavaliers I'd go get a 2 that can play tough Defense. This will take the pressure of having to defend the opposing team's best wing player off LeBron, which would make him fresher going down the stretch and it would also enable Delonte West to not have to guard Kobe Bryant, Dwyane Wade, Joe Johnson and other premier wing players-Dahntay Jones or Shane Battier perhaps, I would have said James Posey would be perfect, but he signed that outrageous extension with New Orleans. They also need a younger big that can score, perhaps David Lee if they can't get Boozer or Bosh, Shaq isn't a long term-or short term answer, for that matter. But a big guy is something I address first and foremost for the Cavs, Z isn't getting any younger and they need to prepare to have an answer for Howard, because if he stays in Orlando, they are going to see each other in the playoffs a lot more frequently IMO. The Celtics need to pick up another big to build depth, perhaps Chris Andersen could do this for them. Or, I know it is unlikely, but if they are really considering dealing Allen, why not package him and a couple of younger players-Big Baby Davis, and go after Bosh. It may not be a likely scenario because the Celtics have to resign Kevin Garnett this offseason, and Paul Pierce and Rondo next season, but Danny Ainge has proved that he isn't afraid to make a big move. Apart from that, just add some depth, anywhere really. Perhaps they could go after Rafer Alston, becuase Stephon Marbury just isn't very good. I think it is critical that the Lakers lock up Ariza, he is progressing into a very good player each time he plays and the sky is the limit for him. And L.A. loves to make a splash with their offseason deals, so why not pursue the best big man in the game to go along with Gasol? If not this offseason, perhaps during the year or next offseason the Lakers could package Bynum, Odom and someone like Vujacic for Dwight Howard. The Lakers have always had a premier big man, see Elgin Baylor, Kareem Abdul Jabar, Wilt Chamberlain and Shaq. The Lakers could very well win 3 or 4 more titles with Kobe, Howard, Gasol and Ariza. And if Turkoglu does in fact leave, I don't see them pushing hard or having the money to go after Boozer or Bosh, so maybe Howard would want to leave. As for the Magic, I think they need to re-sign Turkoglu and address their point guard situation. I don't really agree with the way SVG handled the Jameer Nelson situation, the team had really jelled well with Rafer Alston leading the way, so why mess it up? I think that Nelson playing as much as he did, and the lack of playing time for Alston was one of the contributing factors to the Magic losing the series. So clearly Jameer Nelson is your point guard of the future, so what do you do with Alston? Do you attempt to keep him-unlikely-or do you deal him? I would throw all the money possible at Turkoglu and look to deal Alston and add some depth to the bench. Apart from that, the Magic have a pretty good foundation with Nelson, Lee, Pietrus, Lewis and Turkoglu-even though the last two are getting up there in age. That's all I can think of for now.
June 15, 200917 yr Author I wouldn't be surprised to see Steve Nash become a Celtic... Who does Boston give up for him? I wouldn't start Nash over Rondo at this point in Nash's career and I would trade one for the other if I was Boston
Seems like they had a good PG... ...oh yeah... ...they traded him to New Jersey for Jason Kidd. Smart move there Cuban. How'd that work out for you?
June 15, 200917 yr Who does Boston give up for him? I wouldn't start Nash over Rondo at this point in Nash's career and I would trade one for the other if I was Boston Nash wouldn't help Boston at this point in his career, IMO. The Celtics won with defense and Rondo to Nash would be a huge downgrade in that area...even in his prime it would have been a significant downgrade. I read something a while back suggesting that Chris Paul wouldn't stay in New Orleans. The smart thing for the Hornets to do would be to trade Paul before he leaves on his own and get some value...should they do that, it would be interesting to see where he landed. Boozer would be a nice addition, but the Cavs drafted a couple of young 4's recently. JJ Hickson and Darnell Jackson...I figured at least one of those guys could develop into a solid option, if not both. They need a big guard and some athleticism up front for defensive purposes. A guy like Ron Harper for Phil's championship teams in LA and Chicago would be great...then they could bring West off the bench for some offense and energy. Just a thought...and I'm not sure who could fill that role for them. I didn't realize how terribly unathletic Cleveland was until they played Orlando. They need to fix that. That's the number one reason those Bulls teams with MJ were so great...even though they didn't have great scorers, most of the players on the team had solid, if not better than that, athleticism which allowed them to defend as good as any team I've ever seen. Spearhead that with two of the greatest defenders in league history (Jordan and Pippen), and then a third with Rodman and Chicago won with the best defensive teams in the modern era (maybe ever). If Cleveland wants to be known for defense, they need to improve their athleticism.
