I hope he retires with them; he is a Laker legend regardless of whom he plays for.

He's a Laker for live, I have little doubt about that. They need to sign him to a long term deal and structure it so its end loaded maybe so the Lakers have some room to work with.

Best move for both parties.

:ohbrother:I hate when the media gets stuff started like this. I mean why ask that question?? Next thing you know ESPN will be making up accusations of Kobe wanting to finish his career in New York or something.:idunno:

They ask because he can opt out of his contract this year(July 1, I think), similar to when he could opt out they ear the Lakers got rid of Shaq. No big deal. He'll retire a Laker with a piece of the team, just like Magic Johnson. I don't see Kobe pulling a Favre.

By pulling a Favre you mean wanting to play for the Lakers but being told by the Lakers not to play for anyone?

I guess, I mean by not hanging on to the belief that he can still play at a high level and then moving on to play for another team, just so he could play, which yet again showed he couldn't play at a high level instead of walking away in dignity with the team he should have retired for in the first place.

It is will be a lot easier for Kobe to hang on longer than Favre. Favre plays the toughest position in all of sports.

I agree, I just hated not seeing Favre retire a Packer. I can't imagine Kobe not being a Laker and I hope I never have to see it.

^ I agree, it would be a bit upsetting for me to see him play else where. Kobe can also player longer and change his game a little as he gets really old.

Let's keep in mind the last team that MJ played for. Did it tarnish him at all?

You mean the terrible season he had his last in GB when they played a home game in the NFC title game that went to OT. Yeah he was pretty bad that year.

I think the Favre situation is dumb and terribly old. I just think to make him rush his decision wasn't entirely his fault. Also, before he injured his arm last year the Jets were arguably playing the best football in the NFL. Does he get no credit for playing well before he tore a muscle in his arm? People who want to rip Favre have selective memories.
