Are you saying Bitterness on Mason's part for not having them in the summer camp? An invite to the summer camp was sent out to everyone in the tenth Region plus some more. I don't believe last years game has anything to do with it at all. But the question still remains. Why in these budget reduction times are these two schools, less than 3 miles apart not playing in what surely would be a well attended and spirited game? :idunno:

The administration didn't support them as far as treating the girls program as equals. They attended the boys banquet, not the girls, they had boys banquet at the cafeteria in the school and did it up right, the girls had theirs on the bleachers at the girls gym and it lasted maybe 1/2 hour at best, the AD complained about having to buy a set home uniforms after the KHSAA decided that alternative third colors were not allowed but the boys got new uniforms every year. This is just a few of the many discrepancies. Also the new hadn't worn off the 2 championship trophies and they had retired Chris Lofton's and Darius Miller's jerseys, but they haven't done anything for DeSarae Chambers and Lacey Cline, and I believe Chambers scored more points in her career than Lofton.

 

I have no dog in this race, but this sounds like more of Title IX issue than a basketball issue.

I have not seen next year's schedule. You mean there is no game with St. Patrick. If not, Oh my, I am shocked!!! I believe we have played every year since the eighties. I will try to find out more on Monday at the team camp. :idunno::idunno:

I'm not talking about the team camp, I'm talking about no game scheduled during the regular season.

Team camp was a joke imo.... 5 teams, that is embarassing for a school a size of Mason County. I heard they charged 3 dollars at the door to get in, little steep for summer basketball. Maybe if they done a little fund raising throughout the year, admission prices could have been avoided. I also was told that they didn't have water coolers set up for the girls playing, so they could keep hydrated during the games. It was only 98 degrees in the fieldhouse on Monday. One could go buy a water for a dollar at the concessions stands until they ran out. Next team camp bring a water jug.

There is a KRS statue preventing anyone other than the state board of education or it's designee from making a policy preventing athletes from 4th grade up to try out for any varsity sport.

 

That was determined by the state legislature many moons ago.

 

Now the coach can cut them but cannot prevent them from trying out.

I saw grey water coolers on each end right behind the benches in the 1st row.I assume these were used by the teams.

Prices were also too high if what I heard was correct. $300 for 5 varsity games and $175 for 3 JV games is way too much!! Most places charge $250 for 6 varsity games. 3 JV games should be $125 at the most.

Went to a camp last week with 25 teams (plus or minus) .....about 17 Varsity and 7 or 8 JV. six games each night with two gyms per loacation so there was always a varsity game being played and the admission was $2 kids under 12 were free. Could get your hand stamped to go fromn gym to gym each night. I thought that was very reasonable.

 

I went to the same camp last year and I thought the admission was higher. I could be wrong about that. Still it was a good deal and there were a lot of teams to watch.

 

With the economy in the shape it is, you would think a lower price would bring more people in. Then you just make up for it in concession (bottled water) sales!!!!! LOL

A week before two teams dropped out and the weekend before two more dropped out. We done the best we could with what we had left or we would have had none.

From what I was told each varsity team only got 5 games and each JV team only got 3 or maybe 4. If that's correct then the prices still should have been dropped!!
