June 9, 200917 yr It is my understanding that Georgetown College has a mandatory class attendance policy, with just a very few absences allowed. I know a lot of smaller classes at UK will have attendance count as a portion of your final grade, but usually nothing too significant unless the teacher has their own set rules about it.
June 9, 200917 yr I never went to a day of my math class last semester and ended up with a B in the class. I will take no class for a B in most cases. WOW, maybe I'm just old but something about paying tuition and then not having to go to class and you still get a B. Kinda reminds me of athletes that get a "pass" so they are eligable to play. When they hit the real world reality bites them.
June 9, 200917 yr I never understood NOT going to class, especially if you pay for school on your own, as I do. Do I have perfect attendence? No, I'll miss two or three class meetings, but for the life of me never understood why some people would go to the first two or three meetings and then just stop showing up.
June 9, 200917 yr I really like this aerial shot of the campus. Some buildings cannot be seen very well due to the trees, but a beautiful campus. They also have 7 waterfalls on campus and Clifty Falls right down the road.

June 10, 200917 yr WKU here. Loved my 4 years there. Great atmosphere, people from all over, and great sports with recent addition to L.T. Stadium and Nick Denes Field. Plus you get a workout walking up the hill every day!:thumb:

June 10, 200917 yr If I had it to do all over again, I would've done what was necessary for me to go to UK. Maybe not my first year or two, but to finish from there. That was my dream school. Unfortunately, I didn't even start taking my time at NKU serious until about my 5th or 6th semester. Seeing as how I saw about 60% of my friends that went away for school either drop out, or finish closer to home, maybe it was all for the better.

Actually, all colleges have their pros and cons and you need to go to the college that makes you comfortable and best accomodates your goals.
June 10, 200917 yr I'm surprised no one has mentioned Eastern (EKU) yet. I loved my time there. Hadn't been on campus in quite a few years until this Spring and was surprised at the number of new buildings. It really is a pretty campus and the size of Richmond (small city) is also a plus in my opinion. For those interested in a law enforcement/criminal justice career, it is one of the top schools in the country. Not sure it's going to be the best fit for my son, but it's definitely on our list right now.

June 10, 200917 yr I'll be the first to admit, if you're thinking about money, then yeah, you can't beat a public school. My scholarship, combined with work study, is what allowed me to go to Dayton. For me, it was about picking a place that felt like home for four years. When I visited Lexington, I really and truly felt out of place (all the people wearing blue didn't help ). But the moment I stepped on campus, from standing in the Immaculate Conception chapel during my tour to walking through the Ghetto with some people on the unofficial tour, UD felt like home. For me, that was important. I liked the small classes at UD (Chemistry my first semester had 45 people and I never had another class larger than 30, most were closer to 20.). In the end, I also liked that it was a Catholic school; that meant something to me. There is an atmosphere and a culture at UD that I can't put a price tag on and that I truly believe is unique to that campus. Whether it springs from the one-of-a-kind student housing in the Ghetto or something deeper in the Catholic, Marianist traditions of the school itself, I don't know, but I felt a part of that community the moment I got there. It's tough to imagine that I'd considered going anywhere else. Looking back, it's strange to think that a few points lower on my ACT or a few more lackluster grades here and there, I never would have gotten the scholarship I did. I probably would have gone to WKU. I probably would have loved it. There's no telling. One of my sons went to UD before going to UK dental school. UD is a very nice (expensive) college. We had a great time every parent's weekend.
