Find the right college?

Featured Replies

If you could attend any college in the tri-state area KY, OH, or IN, where would it be and why?

I believe that answer should depend on what it is that you're going to school for.

Centre . It's all about the academics.

I went to Morehead and it was great!

Transylania, because it's all about academics.

That's my pick. Great academics and well within range to check out some UK sports. :D

I think it all depends on what you are looking for. Size, proximity of home, cost, extra curricular, strength of major etc.

I had a full ride anywhere. I planned on going to UK. I was a little worried leaving a really small town into a school that big that I would be taking too big of a step. I decided to go to Morehead a year then transfer. I got to Morehead.... made a great group of friends fast and loved the student to teacher ratio. I felt like it was easy to get to know most of the teachers and I enjoyed what I was doing. We still went to the UK football games etc. I ended up never leaving there. I've known several people that left UK because the classes had 150+ to 1 teacher student where Morehead was more like 20-1.

I've had friends go to Centre, Georgetown, Eastern, Western, UK, UofL, Transy, Marshall, OSU etc and all loved their experience. IMO they are all really good schools. It's all about the experience each individual is looking for IMO.

WKU for me. I'd do it all again in a heartbeat. Great chemistry department, great secondary education department, small class size, beautiful campus in the fall, especially.

Other colleges that I considered back in 1992 included UK, UofL, Centre, EKU and Hanover College. None of them felt right. When I stepped onto WKU's campus, I felt at home immediately.

UK, if your a KY resident. It's cheap. It's easy. It's hilariously fun.

I don't think paying more than $7,000 a year can be justified unless the school is really top-tier, such as a Centre, or Vandy, or Virginia, or Ivy League, etc. I couldn't justify going to Dayton, Xavier, etc. I recognize that they are better academically then UK, but $40,000 (over 4 years) better? I don't think so.

I'm not an employer, and I'm notoriously cheap.

Papa and mama went to Morehead. Loved it.

Son went to Vandy. Loved it.

Daughter goes to Georgetown. Loves it.

Myself..Morehead and loved it.

Husband....UK...loved it.

Son..Lincoln Memorial Univertisy, undergrad...loved it. Union, Masters, loved it.

As stated before, you have to find the school that suits you and your major of choice.

What if, hypothetically, your major was card-playing?

Hypothetically, mind you.

MIT (or MIST, whatever) sounds like a good option given it's history.

^ Unfortunately, I could never find a venue to make thousands/millions playing Rook, Euchre, Spades and Hearts...
