Top Disco Songs of all-time

Featured Replies

Please post your list then.

I agree with all of the others.

Just because you can dance to it doesn't make it "disco," right?

Are the Bar-Kays disco?

Sly and the Family Stone?

Ohio Players?

Lakeside?

They were right when they said disco will never die!

I agree with all of the others.

In the posts of mine that you quoted I didn't name any songs by any of the groups you are talking about.

Hey I didn't see Car Wash anywhere on here.

I know. My point is that not all "dance" songs (like those from groups I just listed) are disco. Some people lump dance and disco together. That's my only point.

Oh, I understand now. I'm sorry I misunderstood your post.:thumb:

I could care less what true disco is all about as long as the crowd likes what I play and more specifically the General Manager of the team....lol. Always gotta please the GM with the music.

I will be downloading the songs tonight. I will post a list of what I have chosen. I only really need about an hours worth plus some to play for a couple of the mid-inning promos. I'm guessing about 25 will do and be more than enough. I'm going to get to the downloading after the college softball world series is over tonight so expect a list sometime after midnight or later.

Are you from the Heckowee tribe...?

Where the heck are we?

I agree. I contend that the Bee Gees songs are great dance songs that would have made it big in any era, but they are considered "disco" because they were recorded in the disco era.

However, isn't widely considered that "Rock The Boat" was the first song played in discotheques that hit the Top 40?

I'm not sure that the music critics of BGP will agree with my personal list, but this is what I remember as the best, along with most of the others posted above:

Last Dance - Donna Summer

Disco Inferno – Trammps

Boogie Ooogie Oogie - A Taste of Honey

The Hustle - Van McCoy

Funkytown - Lipps Inc

Dancing Queen – ABBA

Ring My Bell - Anita Ward

Love Is In The Air - John Paul Young

Staying Alive – Bee Gees

Shake Your Groove Thing - Peaches & Herb

Family Affair - M. F. S. B.

Upside Down - Diana Ross

It's Raining Men - Weather Girls

On The Radio - Donna Summer

Take A Chance On Me-ABBA

Love Will Keep Us Together-The Captain and Tenille

Coming from the 60s/70s and being a "Classic Rock" fan I'll admit that I like the Carpenters and that I just bought KCs greatest hits and its in my car changer. My 12 year loves them and Mama likes maybe...one song.

This KC cd is the only disco I have.

I would be amiss if I didn't mention the best rap song of all time!

Rapper's Delight-Sugar Hill Gang!! :banana::taz::banana:

Does that count as Disco? If so I'd have to go with that and Saturday Night Fever.
