May 28, 200917 yr I like the commercials. I like Kobe and LeBron and I think it is great marketing because kids love Kobe and LeBron and kids love puppets. It takes me back to when I was a kid and Converse had the Weapons commercials. I always hated Larry Bird, but I loved when he said at the end of a Weapons commercial that had rapping in it that "he walked away with the MVP". It also takes me back to the MJ and Bird commercials when they were playing horse. I even think that the puppet commercials should add their Nike endorser from the Magic or Nuggets if one or both make it to the Finals.

May 28, 200917 yr I'm easily entertained. I do like the fact that Kobe and LeBron are in another commercial together and I like it plays on the "rivalry" that they may or may not have. From a marketing standpoint, it's genius and the right time.

May 28, 200917 yr I couldn't disagree more with this. I think LeBron/Kobe will far surpass Magic/Bird when it's all said and done. We are talking about 2 of the best 3 players to ever play the game. I don't even think Bird and Magic are on their level any more. No, no we're not. Neither is in the top 3, yet. I don't think Kobe can ever get there as he is getting too old. I would take Oscar, Wilt, Shaq, Russell, and Magic over Kobe. I don't think Oscar especially can be surpassed by Kobe. LeBron may get to 2 or even 1 but he's not there yet.

May 29, 200917 yr The NBA hasn't had anything close to Magic vs. Bird as far as rivalries go. There was so much that made that rivalry great... Both were all-time greats. Their rivalry started before the NBA, in the national title game. Boston and LA were brand names, tradition-rich franchises, that offered a storybook contrast in styles that suited the players, the teams and the cities they represented. Bird (Boston) was the gritty, crafty, hard working, east coast team. Magic (LA) was the flashy, showtime, hollywood, west coast team. The NBA will never be able to re-create something like that. Never. But, forgetting all the additional pluses that took that rivalry even higher, the NBA hasn't even had a head-to-head rivalry between the two best players since then. Michael Jordan had no peers during his dominance. Now, for the first time in a long time, there was a real chance at having the two best players in the league meet in the NBA Finals, with both the stars and their teams young enough to present the possibility of this happening at least one or two more times. And, the two both play on the wing, so there would have been some real "head-to-head" matchups during the series. You can't fault anyone for hyping that potential matchup. Single star players make the NBA go more than any other sport...
