While that is, and will always be true, I have admittedly not seen much to indicate to me a moderate agenda. Could this be because he does not have one? That is entirely possible as it is also possible that he is currently presiding over a congress that is essentially frothing at the mouth to do what its more vocal members want and in order to keep them from causing him trouble is more or less letting them have free reign.

 

 

As it is I do not really have an issue with her appointment, she is replacing what many would characterize as a "liberal" justice anyway and as such is not affecting the balance of the court.

I never thought he was going to unite us because I don't believe it can be done except for very short periods of time, mostly in response to a national crises.

She was also praised by some on Fox News.

 

That's because they are "fair & balanced". Most of what I heard them say on Fox was praising her "story" more than her ideals. She seems to be a true "rags to riches" American story. Not sure about a couple of her views however, but I'm sure more will come up as this saga continues.

They will. Bet on it. Look for Ginsberg and Stevens to leave at appropriate times. The ones you need to protect are the other five Catholics- Scalia, Thomas, Roberts, Alito, and Kennedy. If one of them is lost, if you think we are in a dangerous situation now, you will see real extremism in a year or two after BO and his ilk get control of the court.

As predicted, the usual media sources are ecstatic over the choice of Sotomayor. CNN and MSNBC have already run out of superlatives. It would make one wonder why this truly special woman was not elevated to royalty long ago.

How about chosing the BEST PERSON for the job, be them man, woman, black, white, yellow, red, purple, alien, Sasquatch, etc.--Novel concept??

As long as the nominee isn't, as my dad used to say, just to the right of Atilla the Hun, the same folks would be complaining.

 

This nominee is gonna be tough to oppose. Horatio Alger-type story, more bench experience than any nominee in recent memory, appointments by GWB and WJC. Almost enough to make me feel sorry for the folks that the Cons have to trot out there to make their case.
