Please don't blame this applicant for BCHS not doing their homework last year!

The committee had certain qualifications to look for in a coach. These qualifications were given by the Bracken Co. Varsity, JV, and incoming Freshman players parents. Along with these guidelines and the personal qualifications of each applicant the committee choose the best all round candidate. If you really look at everything that each applicant had to give to the Bracken Co. program then the right choice was made.

In the past Bracken Co. has tried to go out of county and get a coach and you see how that has worked out. The parents in Bracken Co. are pathetic and out of town coaches just aren't going to stay around. Like it was said above no one will work harder than Chad and he wont be leaving for another position. He has wanted this position for some time and now he gets the opportunity to see what he can do with it. I know he will have a lot more passion than the past coaches so he is already an improvement. Chad make us Milfordians Proud Baby!!

I believe Coach Persinger will be given the time, because of his roots, to either make or break the program. I would think there are more people that are happy and more that are not as happy about this hire then some of you would like to admit.

 

Seems from the beginning of this search, Coach Persinger, was the guy who was gonna get the job! I believe a couple of posters on another thread about the job even said so. Now, I do not think for one second that one's success as a fast-pitch softball coach translates to success on the hardwood! Perhaps, this work ethic someone spoke of will lend itself to that success. If he can coach the player's up and teach the game this will certainly help. This is what I look forward to finding out the most, can Coach Persinger coach his players up at the HS level, in basketball?

 

The interesting thing about this will be who is right: those who are thrilled with this hire as the local boy does well and leads his alma mater or those who do not like the hire and wanted the outsider. Will BC be back in this predicament in a few years or does Persinger get the job done. Can't wait for that debate to start!

 

I have been told this team next season, assuming all players will be back, could challenge for the Class "A" title? Now I only saw them play a couple of times last season and both were bad losses so I cannot say, just going on what a few coaches told me.

Will Coach Persinger remain on as 8th grade Boys and Girls basketball Coach on top of the duties as softball Coach and Boys Varsity Basketball Coach? Think I read where TJ Lykins and Molly Schiltz were hired as teachers for next year, would TJ possibly take over JR High Boys and Molly the JR High Girls?

That's not a knock to the boys on the roster either. Hard to have a solid program when there's so much change going on.

 

This team has current, along with up-and-coming talent. They have plenty of potential. I wish them & their new coach nothing but the best.

Didn't say it couldn't be made worse (which I don't think it will, by the way). I said he couldn't break what was already broken. It could be made worse, I agree with that. I just don't think it will.

 

Again, this is not a knock against the kids themselves. There's a lot of talent on the team as it stands. Some good shooters (Hamilton & Workman come to mind), as well as a really solid post-player in Todd Jefferson. The Cummins kid is a banger too. Really liked watching him play in what few games I saw. I feel like the starting five should be pretty strong.

It can be done, just ask Coach Matthew Perry of Morgan Co.

 

Not many work harder than Coach Perry. He completed this season coaching the Cougars at all levels. In addition to his high school duties, he coached the entire Middle school season, 6th, 7th, and 8th grade teams, runs the Jr. pro program from top to bottom, coached a K-2 team, assisted with another, and his son Jordan (5th grade) plays on an AAU team out of Lexington. His dedication to coaching and player improvement are top notch.

That is a small sample though and it is still very tough to do. Had a good friend who did it all for about 10-12 years, he got burnt out and now will not even watch a HS game!
