Congratulations to Coach Persinger. This is well deserved. I hope those of you in Bracken County can support him. It sounds like some of you have a personal vendetta against him. If the folks of Bracken County don't support him and let him run the program the way he and his staff want to run it will be a shame. Step aside and let him run the program his way.

By the way if this "other" candidate was so super why has he remained where he is at. Perhaps you forget it doesn't matter how great you were when you played and what you accomplished as a player, nor does it matter a great deal when it comes to coaching as their is a head coach making all the calls, unless its a situation where the assistant coach is doing more coaching than the head coach. Great players dont automatically make great coaches. If he is so great as a teacher and coach, I would think everyone would be knocking down his door.

Not many work harder than Coach Perry. He completed this season coaching the Cougars at all levels. In addition to his high school duties, he coached the entire Middle school season, 6th, 7th, and 8th grade teams, runs the Jr. pro program from top to bottom, coached a K-2 team, assisted with another, and his son Jordan (5th grade) plays on an AAU team out of Lexington. His dedication to coaching and player improvement are top notch.

 

Really wish Fleming County had got him, if he indeed was interested in that job.

Support is needed with any coach, Alot of People use this as a soap opera and think things are funny, As a former coach, Its hard when you first start out . Alot of things are expected of you.... The guy starts a program from absolute scratch--at a public, Class A School, mind you--and has built it into a top contender in the region for the last few years. Chad Persinger oversees THE MOST SUCCESSFUL VARSITY PROGRAM @ BCHS, hands down! Without girls softball, BCHS would have nothing to hang their hat on.

 

You forget that winning a regional tournament game at all, regardless of the sport, is an absolutely wonderful accomplishment at a place like Bracken County. Have you ever stopped to realize that it's been 20 years since the boys' varsity won a 10th region game (1989 vs. Mason County)? And when was the last time the girls' varsity basketball team won a regional tournament game? It's been at least a decade (I'm guessing mid-90's).

 

And what about the boys baseball team--when was the last time they won a regional tournament game? 13 years ago (1996 vs. Nicholas County--and guess who their coach was?--Chad Persinger). And football--when was the last time they won a playoff game? Never.

 

Do you hold Patrick Kelsch (girls basketball coach), Chris Yelton (boys baseball coach), or whoever the football coach is to those same standards? Or just Chad Persinger, since you obviously have a vendetta against him?

 

You simply sit here and spout off this nonsense about how if Persinger doesn't win 2 games w/ his softball team this year in the regional tournament, that he's failed for some reason.

 

Are you serious? You fail to win two regional games at a school like Bracken, and that's a failure?

 

Ask any of Chad Persinger's peers in fastpitch softball if BC has underachieved. I think they would share a far different opinion than you.

Why should they, or any other school, Class A or otherwise; set their expectations so low that simply MAKING a regional tourney, or district final is earth shattering news?? Others don't think so small--Maybe that's part of the problem??

 

Bracken has some of the nicest Class A facilities in the region, and maybe the state; and has a captive audience in their community. With the proper younger programs, a more challenging schedule (quit playing Augusta, Deming, st. Pat's, etc. 3-4 each every year), and some coaching stability; there's no reason they can't be successful at their level and beyond?? :confused:

The facilities at Bracken County are VERY nice for a school this size. I also agree with the scheduling comments. Branch out a little bit. Lewis County and Fleming county aren't that far away; and NKY is just up the road.

I agree totally about the facilities at BC, extremely nice and taken care of! I also think Bracken County might need to branch out with their schedule, but they also might want to try and beat Augusta, St. Patrick, and Deming on a consistent basis before trying to move onto a bigger and better schedule! Augusta has dominated this series the last 7 to 8 seasons consistently!

I agree that they need to play each other; just not 6 times a year. I still think you need to schedule teams that throw different things at you - slow and methodical, run-and-gun, primarily zone, primarily man, etc. If you can get that kind of variety by playing St. Patrick 6 times a year, more power to you. I'd just like to see the Polar Bears expand their out-of-region scheduling vision just a bit. That doesn't mean they have to schedule the Holmes' of the world; but what about some of those teams on the football schedule, maybe - try to develop a nice rivalry with Frankfort, Gallatin County, Trimble County, for example.

What's that got to do with anything?? They played 3 times last year (Regular season, MCIT, district playoffs), once in '08 and twice in '07--Six times in 3 years and exactly the same number of times Bracken played St. Pat's last year!!!! Hat's off to Brossart for trying to play larger schools like Campbell, CovCath, Highlands, etc.--Maybe that's why they're more successful--Just a thought?? :confused:

I'd think they might try to not only schedule them (especially 10th region All "A" counterparts Silver Grove, BB & Calvary), but see if they could work their way into the NKAC-D-III? Don't know what requirements there are for that, but it would provide them a good number of similar size opponents within less than an hour's travel??

I sure hope Bracken County doesn't venture into the 9th region or farther north for opponents. I think fans of 10th region ball, me anyway, like to play opponents that we are familiar with by name anyway. Would like to see them play schools like Ashland, East and West Carter, Morgan County(schools in that region) before 9the region schools. Schools like Ludlow,Bellevue, Dayton just don't do it for me. Would say 90 percent of people in the Mason-Bracken area get their news from Lexington Stations and just aren't familiar with what I more call Cincinnati schools, even though they are in Northern Kentucky. Would much rather them play Deming, Augusta and Pendleton 3 times each. Most people in these parts are 'old school':thumb:
