Track the Reds (Week 6)

Featured Replies

May want to go back, and look again. Just made it thru the 1st inning so far, but looking at MLB Gametrack, in the 1st.

Justin Upton grounds out. 3rd basemen Adam Rosales to 1st basemen Joey Votto.

I watched the game. There was a runner on 1st. It was a one hopper that ate him up and bounced off his chest. You can't assume a DP or else it was a sure fire error. He bobbled but hung w/ it and got the runner at 1st. It was an easy double play ball. I'll stick w/ 0-4.

.200 avg. 7 Hrs, 17 RBIs, 45 SOs in 115 ABs. Against lefties. What's your point again?

You're the one who brought last year into the discussion. Who from last year's team would have put up better numbers against lefties? How many BB's did he have against lefties? Still a much less differential against lefties than Nix's numbers.

I'll say it again. A lot of grumbling about the best Reds team we have seen in a looooonnnnggg time. Go Reds!!:dancingpa

Wade Boggs was the poorest fielding 3rd baseman in the league, however, he consistently was a .330 hitter. Sooooo, he spent countless hours working on his defense and became a solid fielder. I think Rosales can be a solid defensive 3rd baseman with work. I'm with LRCW on this one. I'd take what Rosales brings to the table vs. E5.

Listen we are now using another one of the greatest hitters in the history of baseball. If Rosales is as good of a hitter as Boggs or Rose I don't care if he runs out to the field w/o a glove on his hand. He has 13 hits this year. Lets relax a little. It's unacceptable to have 4 balls hit to you and make no plays on the 4 balls. If it were EE people would want him cut. I'm fine w/ Rosales playing, but if he can't field a ground ball he needs to hit .330 or higher. We're not talking about a 21 year old kid that will have over 3000 hits in his career. I like Rosales, but he's terrible defensively.

26 BB. And i just said they weren't concerned in the past, why all the concern now?

It's good to have grubling. I think people understand that this team has a chance to be pretty good.

I didn't see the game, so it's hard for me to comment, but balls take bad hops all the time. I did DVR the game, and will watch it this evening if I have time. Given all of that, I will stick with Rosales over E-5. E-5 has shown for 4 years, that he is very sup par defensively.

I saw the one he missed. He kind of got caught in no man's land, and as soon as he backed up, it ate him up.

Very convenient you left out those 26 BB's. That improves that OBP a bit don't you think? The Reds also aren't paying any of their LF's 14 million dollars this year. If they were, there wouldn't be any talk of a platoon.

That wasn't the one we are discussing here, but that was one of 4 he messed up out of 4 chances.

Was it hit hard? Should he have charged the ball?

Again, I like him in there. He's hitting well and playing hard right now. When he goes on a slump like he will when there is a better scouting report on him if he's 0-4 on fielding chances it will be a different tune. EE isn't a great fielder but he's twice as good as what Rosales has shown so far. I hope he's just having a bad couple of weeks.

Was it hit hard? Should he have charged the ball?

Yes, it ate him up bad it was a difficult play, now the other 3 not so much. He will get better. With his arm how can he not be a candidate for an OF spot. To bad there isn't much room there. Chalk it up as a bad game defensively and move on. He more than made up for it at the plate. Votto is brutal sometimes at 1B but we don't hear much about that.

The one he's talking about was a ball he for sure let play him and he should have charged. After you watch the game let me know what you think.

Edwin also had a cracked bone in his wrist. If you go back, and look when that news came out I said I was going to give him a pass because of the injury. What are his career numbers against lefties? What are Nix's career numbers against lefties?

I am not worried about Edwin's career numbers against lefties. I am worried about his career numbers against righties. He hits right handed after all.

Nix has very few career numbers. But one thing is for sure...

Dusty won't have to bench or get on Nix or Rosales for their lack of hustle. That is another story for Edwin.
