Louisville: Pitino says he's staying put

Featured Replies

You did read the thread, right?

Yes and if that is getting crucified I'd love to know what you call a disagreement.

I'm glad he's staying... he brings so much to the UofL-UK rivalry...

I'm sorry. I didn't know by using the word "crucified," some would take it literally...

I'm pretty sure SSC didn't think RM was actually nailed to a cross and crucified. So pretty sure it wasn't taken literally.

Thanks chief. :thumb:

I'm just saying the first person to make it personal was either you or RM. Nobody was even harsh on RM. A few people disagreed w/ RM taking a shot. That was the extent of it.

I never said it doesn't happen. Some people on here automatically jump on certain posters bandwagons when no truth whatsoever has been posted. Then rockmom gets crucified because she (Heaven forbid) didn't think the thread was credible. Comical if you ask me. I guess it's not as fun to post about topics after all the crazy rumors have been shot down... :idunno:

It wasn't because she didn't believe it, it was because she was taking shots at the poster for stating a rumor that he had heard. Big difference IMO.

Let's get back on topic, please.

Good.

I do feel that this coming season will be his last in Louisville though. I just think he hangs it up.

No way, IF he coaches this year he is in it for at least one more after that. No way he quits one year before the arena opens.

Agreed. If I had to bet, I'd say Pitino will spend at least five more years in Louisville. The new arena, along with solid recruiting classes should give him plenty of incentive to remain on the job.

Here is the best article I've seen yet proving Pitino isn't leaving....LINK

Good. That should hopefully put things to rest for a while. UL is so lucky....everyone either wants our coach, or wants him gone. If there was ever a coach who could so completely and successfully follow a legend like Denny Crum, it's the legend-in-the-making Rick Pitino. Louisville has been very blessed.

UofL is very lucky, they've only had two coaches the last 40 years or so, and both them will be in the Hall of Fame one day.:D

That brings another thought to mind. Louisville must be a pretty good job...only 2 coaches in the last ~40 years. Out of curiosity, how many other programs have such longevity in coaching? Granted, Pitino's only been here, what, 8? But it seems to still be up there in terms of longevity in a program. Every season there's a carousel. I don't even bother remembering who coaches whom these day.
