Not a big shock. Joe is Brad's uncle, so it was just a matter of time before Brad talked him into it. Once a coach it's hard to get that itch to go away! Great hire for ACS.

Who?

Joe Hood, winningest coach in Warren Central history by a lot. Retired from coaching following the 1998 season.

Another sign that Allen County is serious about making a statewide run in 4A this fall ...

Absolutely. Heck, I would have taken Joe back as head coach at Central in a heartbeat. He'll be a real help in Allen County.

I played for the ole ball coach at Warren Central and his love for each individual player, pride in the installation of the fundamentals of smash mouth football is absolutely unparalled. He made each player want to run through a brick wall for him and his talents will be greatly appreciated in Scottsville. He is a perfect mentor and will help his nephew's program greatly. Best of Luck to them this coming season.

Western Kentucky 4A football is an absolute crapshoot. I honestly think that outside of a few schools, with just a little work nearly all could make it to Bowling Green for the championship. Allen County took a huge step toward the front of the line with this hire.

I agree with you GCHS, the west in 4A is the easy route, Lord knows the east is stacked...might be a while before the west side of the bracket takes a title home.

Really? Bullitt East came awfully close last year.

I realize that everybody looks down on the west after what Lexington Catholic did to Lone Oak in 2007, but let's be honest ... LexCath only broke a sweat once in the playoffs, and that game likely would have been lopsided on a neutral field.

Right now, that one game is the only thing that definitively puts the east well above the west. Last year's championship game was right down to the wire.

Sure it was a close game, not saying it wasn't. East won, west didn't (win by 1 or 100 it's still a win). Lex Cath, Boyle, Bell...gonna be hard to beat any one of them. Not saying it cant be done, of course it can, just saying the west side is not nearly as tough or taxing to get to the final. However, this thread is about the hire of Joe, congrats and good luck to my friends down at ACS.

Westsider, start a thread about East vs West bracket in all classes...would be interesting to get the opinion of bracket play statewide, dont you think?

That would be a waste of time around here.

Great hire by ACS though.

I wasn't saying the west was an easy route. I simply meant that there are about 10-12 schools in the western bracket that are capable of beating each other. Point being, there are a number of schools there that can win the state title. Making a hire like Allen County has done might give them a slight edge.

Congrats to both Coach Hoods. Great to know that Joe P. will be back on the sidelines next year. Heck, I may even have to head over to Scottsville to check out some games this year.

A great hire for sure......I know Coach Joe personally and he's a fine man. Good coach too!!!
