May 11, 200917 yr The Lakers were awful today, but I would still be very surprised if this goes longer than 6. The Rockets were given a great motivational speech before the game by one of the greatest winners in Duke basketball history in Shane Battier and they used that emotion and energy to defeat the Lakers today. I am very surprised with how they handled the Lakers, but I expect the hammer to come down on Tuesday and Thursday. Stat of the day...... The Rockets are now 4-0 against the Lakers when Yao Ming is not in the lineup......:popcorn: They should be 4-2 in a couple of games, but we'll see......
May 11, 200917 yr Nene has been playing very well in this series and although I don't think he'll be as good in the conference finals as he has been in the semis, he isn't going to completely disappear. Kenyon Martin is not much of an offensive player but he is still one of the top three low-post defenders in the NBA. Odom isn't quick enough to guard Carmelo and Ariza isn't a very good defender. Kobe will get his for sure, Dahntay Jones is a good defender but he woun't be able to hold Kobe down. As for Fisher on Billups, Chauncey will eat his lunch. Also, 1 player can't win a series, but 2 can and Carmelo Anthony and Chauncey Billups are a better combination that Kobe Bryant and Lamar Odom or Kobe Bryant or Pau Gasol. I don't hate Kobe, hate is a little too strong of a word. I can't stand him, but I still watch the Lakers play every time they are on television because they are a good basketball team and I like to watch good basketball. I root against them everytime they are on; but I'll give them their credit and they probably beat the Nuggets 6 out of 10, I think the Nuggets are playing good basketball right now and all you need is to win 4. Chauncey Billups has provided that team with something they haven't had since I have been alive: toughness, a grea work ethic and something that Allen Iverson was never able to give them. I think to beat the Lakers you have to come out and hit them in the mouth and play physical-like the Rockets are playing them right now, how the Spurs have always played them and how the Celtics played them last season in the Finals-I think the Nuggets can do this. Martin is an excellent post defender, Nene is playing great right now and Andersen gives them energy, rebounding and shot blocking off the bench. It will be a great series to watch, I can't wait. I think the Nuggets win in 7. I agree it will be a great series to watch, but I still think the Nuggets have yet to be tested by a good team. They beat an injury depleted and affected Hornets team and now they are playing the number 7 seeded Mavs who defeated an injury depleted San Antonio team. Granted the Lakers are playing like they feel like they can turn it on and kick butt when they want to, but it will be a completely different animal when they play the Lakers. I don't know if I said it in this thread or another but the Lakers were 3-1 against the Nuggets this year and 2-1 against the Nuggets with Chauncey in the lineup. That being said, I still think the Lakers will beat the Nuggets in 7 with superior clutch play by Kobe to win the Western Conference championship in the Staples Center. I can't wait, that is if the Lakers get their heads out of their backsides and get the Rockets series over with.

IF the Nuggets and Lakers meet up, the better team will win. If it comes down to clutch play, give me Billups. He is "Mr. Bigshot". That said, I think the Lakers are a more talented team than Denver and should win.

May 11, 200917 yr Davis crushed a kid on the sidelines. Me too, we rewound the DVR a couple of times to watch it. Be careful sitting in the front row.... That shot along with Melo's yesterday should be one of the "amazing commercials" next year. I can't get enough of those commercials. Especially the new ones that starts off without a crowd and then they put the crowd in. Great stuff.

I think Big Baby made that shot when he didn't hesitate to shoot it. He shot it like it like the play was called for him.....no hesitation. I say that because Peja hesitated before he shot two years in a row when he was with the Kings when he had shots to beat the Lakers.

Once again I will respectfully agree to disagree with your first two sentences. Time and time again season stats tend to repeat themselves during the playoffs in a 7 game series. I will agree that the better team will win. Unlike college basketball, the cream rises to the top in a 7 game series. There are no flukes, lucky shots, horrible officiating, etc in a 7 game series. The best team should always win in a 7 game series.

But the Lakers are having trouble with a team is missing their two best offensive players on the bench, so how are they playing a tough team? No Tracy MacGrady and no Yao. Not exactly a quality team. I don't see how everyone is saying the Cavs and Nuggets are playing no one, but weren't the Jazz injury depleted as well? The Lakers and Rockets are just as hurting as the Hawks, Spurs, Pistons or Mavericks. The difference is that the Lakers don't like to play defense and they are soft and fold when someone physical hits them in the mouth.
