Couldn't agree more, and it's something annoying they do like watch pitches in the 9th. I know he was throwing nasty stuff but you're kind of running out of outs at that point. It's like I tell the little league guys I coach. I'd rather see them swing at 3 terrible pitches and have a chance to hit the ball atleast than go down looking.

April 25, 200917 yr Volquez has been like this since spring training. He needs to seriously work on his control. I'll accept this loss just because the Reds have done a good job of winning series and they still have the opportunity to do so. I will gladly take the Reds winning 2 and then losing 1 all year. That gives us over a 100 wins.

April 25, 200917 yr Thoughts on last night's game: First, as I have always believed, Volquez and Cueto must not walk hitters to be effective. Cueto proved it against the Cubs, I'm really suprised Volquez didn't take anything away from that performance. I thought the strike zone was tight, yet consistent, but Volquez didn't make the neccessary adjustments. Phillips is in a terrible slump, looks frustrated at himself, really needs a confidence boost, not in the 4 hole in my opinion. A-Gonz showing signs of life. Edwin, I have no clue where this kid ends up, good or bad, I have no idea. Votto is the man, the curve at the end would have locked up many hitters, I don't fault him there. The best news of the loss comes if you believe in trends. If I am not mistaken the Reds dropped the first game of the series to the Astros and Cubs and then proceeded to not lose anymore games to those teams. Hopefully that will continue against Atlanta, not easily done against Lowe however.
