Lets say you and your spouse are "unhappy" with other and both of you have said some things not liked by the other. When you say "Ok I said that but you said...." is that an apology on your behalf?

If they had them. It has come out that Iraq didn't have any. Also, the United States stood up to Soviet Union so why should we worry about Iraq or Iran?

This country has a history of expecting other countries to use the UN to but we don't have to. It seems that this country only uses the UN when it is in its suits its own interests. The US champions human rights but it has a distant and recent history of human rights violations itself.

 

The US was against Russia invading Georgia but we had invaded Iraq on false pretenses. Other countries around the world wants something done about global warming but in this country there are some who say it is a figment of people's imagination.

 

Surely to goodness you don't believe that the only place some people don't buy into the global warming trash is the US. Do you?:laugh:

 

And by the way, this country has earned every right to be somewhat arrogant. Frankly, I don't care who thinks this country is or is not arrogant. What really ticks me of is the POTUS seeming apologetic for something so stupid and irrelevant.

Still waiting on examples of how we are arrogant towards Europe.. Or are we just because O says we are ?? Anyone??

I should first note that these are simply examples of condescension and arrogance on the part of Americans and policymakers toward Europe and not necessarily views I agree or disagree with. Also worth noting is the distinction from disagreeing with Europe over policy or noting American superiority in economics or military power. Rather, the derisive mocking of all things not-American.

 

This should be a decent start. Not that it solely concerns American arrogance, but many subscribe to this idea when formulating foreign policy.

Admittedly they were compiled in haste. I would also consider myself unrepentantly guilty of American arrogance on more than a few occasions. However, there is a definite arrogance that permeates the US regarding Europe, or the rest of the world for that matter, and I always complain when posters don't support their arguments with examples so I thought it would be apropos to chime in here.

What does this post have to do with the existence or denial of American arrogance? Otherwise, what facts do you have to support it?

 

And I assume your mention of Iraq was concerning the recent invasion, where the United States acted unilaterally (or bilaterally if you consider the very small British force of 10,000) against the advice and wishes of most of Europe, not the liberation of Kuwait where Europe provided a considerably large number of troops and aid for the coalition (France even contributed 18,000 troops!).
