April 4, 200917 yr We've always had their back and they would not back us... How does that make us arrogant?? The history classes I took taught me that it was France who backed the revolution that brought this country into being. It was also France that gave this country a present for its Centennial Celebration in 1876. That being the Statue of Liberty.
April 4, 200917 yr I'll bet they didn't care if we were arrogant in World War II. I've never been one to buy into the whole "one world order" conspiracy but I have to admit this line gives me a bit of pause: Exactly. Americans are NOT arrogant. We just don't mind telling the truth...well, some of us. It's not arrogant to put your country above all others, or to question the unwillingness of other countries to face their global responsibilities. Everyone of us is different; so it's really kind of pointless to say Americans are this, or Americans do that. We are all individuals with individual thoughts, opinions and actions. But to say that Americans, as a people, are arrogant or derisive is unfair and untrue. Edited April 4, 200917 yr by Birdsfan
April 4, 200917 yr When countries are told you are either with us or against us I can see where the arrogant label can come from.
April 4, 200917 yr When countries are told you are either with us or against us I can see where the arrogant label can come from. Put me in the catagory of arrogant then.
April 4, 200917 yr Put me in the catagory of arrogant then. Then when you need them to help you what do you do?
April 4, 200917 yr When countries are told you are either with us or against us I can see where the arrogant label can come from.In some situations, that's the way it has to be.
April 4, 200917 yr Put me in the catagory of arrogant then. So, no one (or no country) should have the right to be non-committal? You have to be FOR or AGAINST everything?
April 4, 200917 yr In some situations, that's the way it has to be. Agreed, but to be fair I can see where the arrogant moniker can be used to describe this country.
April 4, 200917 yr Agreed, but to be fair I can see where the arrogant moniker can be used to describe this country. And to be fair, used to describe their countries too.
April 4, 200917 yr And to be fair, used to describe their countries too. I never said anything to the contrary. But we should look within also for the things we might be doing wrong. President Obama did bring up the fact that Europeans need to change too.
April 4, 200917 yr I never said anything to the contrary. But we should look within also for the things we might be doing wrong. President Obama did bring up the fact that Europeans need to change too. Which of the two statements are going to get more play over there? USA bad? Europe needs to change?
April 4, 200917 yr Forget about over there which one has gotten more play over here. Probably depends on which channel you are watching. I have seen more coverage of Michele's clothing choices on MSNBC than anything.
April 4, 200917 yr Which of the two statements are going to get more play over there? USA bad? Europe needs to change? If there is truth in both of them then what does it matter which receives more play?
