I noticed at Meet the Redhounds that several kids have been putting in some extra time in the weightroom and the line questions may be answered when some of them get some experience.

 

I also noticed there were over 20 freshman out for the team, which I guess is a result of having 224 freshman at CHS this year. I was told there were over 190 seniors in this year's class, where are they putting all these kids in a school that was built for about 600?

The high school is in the process of some renovation right now. All the schools have had increased enrollment. I teach 5th grade and we were at cap before school started. We had to hire another teacher. We now have 8 fifth grade teachers with 25+ in each class. We are busting out of the seams.

Is the scrimmage still on for Friday?

 

Scrimmage is on Thursday, the 20th.

If they keep these same numbers then in 2011 they will be 4A.

If that happend would Corbin be in the same district will Bell Co. and Knox Central?

I'm not sure where the cutoffs are for the classes at this time, but Corbin had an average of 709 students for the 2 year period of 2008-2009. I believe they are approaching 800 students this year at the high school and the lower elementary numbers are close to 250 per grade. It would be odd to skip from 2A all the way to 4A, but it kind of looks that way right now.

Going from 2A to 4A would be quite the jump. I have no doubt that Corbin would be able to handle such a jump though. However, isn't the football classification based on male students? I was always under the impression that the Hounds would be in 3A once there is a reclassification.

There was a discussion last season as to why Corbin wasn't already in the 3A classification with their numbers. There are currently quite a few teams in 4A with numbers similiar to Corbins.

I am not sure --- but I do not think you can change "mid stream". They had the option of playing up in 3A the last time (their numbers weren't quite there the last time) but chose to stay in 2A. The next time they will probably be assigned to 4A.----or wherever the numbers fit. I am also not sure how often this re-evaluation takes place but I think it is every two years or so.

When do the Hounds scrimmage?

The Hounds scrimmage Glasgow tonite at Glasgow.
