I hope the young man gets a chance at the next level (Manns). The fact remains that Corbin, although they have a history of sending athletes to the next level, is not a college prep school...by that I mean that the coaches will do what is best for this team. They will place people in positions that will benefit the team's progress toward winning another state title. College football is not at the top of their list of concerns. If the young man can play...he will move on. Not very many high school kids play the same position once they reach a campus anyway. So to say he should be moved because his college stock would be improved is ludicrous. The team and their goals come first...it is a we proposition, not a me proposition. Players must be goal oriented with the most immediate concern...their senior football season...if it goes well colleges will take notice and they will take the next step if they are so fortunate. Best of luck to all of these prospects, but don't lose sight of your high school season, team, and goals because they will have passed too soon.

I am sure. Manns is a top notch, selfless kid. I was simply referring to the coments in the post I had quoted in general.

Manns caught 5 passes all of last year 14 games.They have other kids that can do that.Fact that we have a lttle line means he would be a better fit on the line.He is the biggest kid on the team.I agree that many kids will play another spot in college.Corner to safety gaurd to tackle the spots that are a given.But if you follow Corbin football you would see that he is better for Corbin to be on the line.College coaches go after want they need position wise.So if they are looking for a tackle , gaurd and they start looking at game film that is sent to them and they see it is a kid at tight end then they will take it out look at another.And for you to say that it is ludicrous for a young man don't to play the position that he is more suited for is ludicrous.You need to learn the game of football.

I also said that it was ludicrous to play a kid in a given position based on his perceived college stock. Further, have you ever spoken to a college coach? They take out the film if a kid doesn't play the position they need?! Tell the Duncan kid that that played TE at E-town and is on Uks OL. Let's try another shall we? Tyler Thigpen played wingback in high school and was a starting qb for the chiefs last year. Many receivers are converted to db etc. So if a big TE in high school can play the game, colleges will find him a spot. They are typically versatile enough to play dl or ol depending on their potential development. And following Corbin football, I keep up with it and in their offense there isn't a whole lot of difference in te or ot except your number. You gave a stat about his catches last year. By doing that you proved my point. Maybe with a smaller line Corbin plans on reaching ends with a big strong te and running outside the tackles some. But what do I know? They may just be trying to kill a young man's potential to go to college, or better yet they are insane and need bluegrass preps posters to consult them and make personnel choices for them! It will all work out in the end for the good of the team and Manns will have plenty of opportunities at the next level.

 

My main point is that team concerns outweigh personalconcerns and aspirations. But as I said Aaron is a good, down to earth kid who puts team first. Only bgpers make statements that are more on the individualist side.

I think for certain plays if you teamed Manns and Lewallen together it would be awesome these two kids are big enough to cause a train wreck to happen. If Lewallen and Manns can open up a hole or block outside,Watkins or Fritts will be gone down the field for six!

Well put I agree with you on some points and disagree on some .But this is what this forum is for to get other people opinions.Thank you for your input.

Any early camp surprises for the Hounds? Any new lineman stepping up to claim open spots? How about the new kid who transferred in, will he contribute? I understand that Vinnie Hoover has come back out, could he be the backup QB or will he be a WR???????

No doubt he can help somewhere. He has not played since about the 6th or 7th grade though. Of course, Manns had not played in many years and he started his first year out. So if Vinny is indeed playing he will get a shot. Hoover is a good athlete with some nice straight ahead speed. I could see him helping on special teams, and in the defensive backfield.

How have they been looking in pratice? Does it look like the O-line and D-line is shaping up? Hear that Vinny has come back. Does he look to fill the safety spot or maybe fill in as wideout? I hear Roman is looking good. And the back feild is good. I was told that in the football standings that Corbin is rank #2. Does any one no any thing on that? Is the scrimmage still on for Friday?

Crawford (Josh) could've been playing Division I Tight End at any college he wanted to if he had played.:thumb:

 

There's no doubt that Crawford would have been a top-notch player in any sport that he would have played. However, he didn't play football because he didn't want to. The same reason that Manns plays - personal choice. I can guarantee you that Coach P. or Coach Jewell would never tell someone who is as talented as Manns to make a choice. Why would either one of them take a chance on a young person chosing the other sport?
