What are those loose ends, letting a GOOD teacher go to hire a unproven football coach? Not trying to step on anyones' feet, but I have heard from some people in the area that the new football coach has been selected and pretty much hired with expection of the contract being signed.

Whoever if feeding you your information is incorrect. No teachers have been let go.

I am not going to continue on with this line of conversation. I think it's best that everyone concentrate on their own programs. Good luck to all.

My mistake. I thought they were one in the same. Sorry Tiger 0334

Sure about that?

Sure about that?

So what are you hearing Tiger?

There are a couple of teachers in the district that are not having their contracts renewed for next year so the new coach can have a teaching position. Often times when a new coach comes into a district they will get a teaching job, but you don't let teachers go that are doing a great job in the classroom. Even schools that are strong in sports don't do this.

Looked to me like they had a social studies and spec ed spot open. So you are saying they are open because teachers not getting their contracts renewed? I am not doubting you or questioning you. I thought the social studies job was open due to Chism resigning? And I don't know about the spec ed? Or does the new coach even teach one of those?

The Spec. ed. position was Anticipated. I have no ties to TC other than a couple of college friends teaching there. What I have heard is that a couple of teachers are going to be let go to give the new football coach a job and allow for him to maybe get an assistant as well. I have no problem with a district getting a new coach a teaching job and giving that coach a job over someone else because he is a coach. I do have a problem a district letting a good teacher go to give a coach a teaching job. I can understand if those teachers being let go are not doing their job, but from what I hear those teachers are great in the classroom and with the students. How can you justify this? Do not think that I am trying to bash coaches because I am not. Like everyone else on this site I enjoy watching Kentucky High School sports.

Very interesting information! Who knows what is going on. They still havent even announced a coach and already teachers are getting let go to free up space.

Unless you are tenured, contracts are for one year. Which means the district is not obligated to re-hire you. Happens to a lot of good teachers, unfortunately.

Trimble Co. better hope they get rid of some teachers for a coach and some assistants, or they could just let a random teacher coach and see where that gets them.

Didn't they try that the first time and that lasted two weeks!

I know this may be naive view, but, in all districts (I am not singling out Trimble), shouldn't teaching jobs be based on classroom performance and not field performance?

There should be an EQUAL empahsis on ahtletics and athletics. This why Texas, Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia...etc. Are so far ahead. Those folks figured that out decades ago.
