Trimble County's head coaching position is again open

Featured Replies

Who ever gets the job is going to have a rough first year, most of the players coming back are young. Not to mention there was not spring practice for the players that are not in spring sports. Good luck to the next coach their work will be cut out for them and the staff.

Most of players coming back are very experienced as Trimble only had 4seniors that saw any playing time last year. There were alot of freshmen and sophomores that saw time last year. Should be a very good year for TC if they can get someone in place, not having spring practice may hurt but Trimble knew they had to look for a coach in early Jan and waited until middle March to hire someone already in the building ( which already had a teaching position)

Sounds like a weird situation to me!!!!! :ohbrother:

Sorry, I thought they graduated more than only 4 seniors.

The coach that they hired in March chose not to have any spring practice, that is very strange. It was at the end of the period, but they could have petioned the KHSAA and got time, other schools did that.:idunno:

This gets more interesting by the moment! Why in the world would a coach not do spring practice? Too much work? Sounds to me like, Trimble got lucky when he resigned! He might have been liked by the players as mentioned before, but didnt have the drive or work ethic to be a head coach!:idunno:

Most of the kids that are not 8th graders are involved in spring sports. During the time of the new coach, weightlifting and conditioning continued three days a week.

Not all coaches see a benefit from spring practice. Many would rather spend that time continuing lifting and conditioning. It seems to work well for Trinity.

As regards the issue of Poynter's resignation until the timing of the hiring of the new coach, that has all been discussed already in a previous thread. I don't know why people keep bringing it up. If you've never been on a head coach hiring committee then you don't know all that has to go on sometimes. In addition, there was a 2 week window in which we were having an ice storm and recovering from that. Three members of the six member hiring committee were without electricity for 6 or more days. We do apologize if our priorities lie at home at that time.

A new coach has been chosen. However, there are still a few loose ends to tie up first regarding some very recent district changes. Let me say this part for the 500th time. Once the players (the reason we have a football team) have been notified, I will post (as quickly as possible) the name of the new coach. I can tell you this. I am very pleased and extremely excited. How about all of those that care about Trimble County football leave the negativity (and questions and innuendo) behind and concentrate on what can be the continuation of a program that is on the rise?

I think Trimble and its school system seem very unorganized and unprofessional. They will get what they put into it. Good luck with the rise!!!!!!!!!!

PS I dont think anyone who is a teacher and a coach has so much extra time on their hands to apply for a job just to get an interview, that may be the dumbest thing I have read on here.

Sounds like sour grapes to me. Just having "X" and 6A on a resume doesn't mean that some should be granted an interview. We interviewed those that could fit into the position and program. It doesn't sound like "this person" really cared about the Trimble County program, they just wanted to "try something" different. I'd say TC nailed it.

As to your "PS," your original post said something along the lines of "what does a guy have to do to get an interview"? Why give an interview to someone that is not a fit for your system?

how could experienced and winning not fit any system? Not to mention fits the needs of a teaching opening. Also if you think you can know someone and what they offer from an application, the committee or whoever reviewed them much be a genious or have a crystal ball. So I guess the committee really did a great job finding a best candidate. You say that just being in 6A means nothing then you quote what Trinity does. I would say the applicant is prolly better off not interviewing for he could have been stuck there dealing with such incompetence. Oh Well.:clap::clap:

Being involved in a winning program doesn't necessarily mean that one is the reason for that.

Again, if you've never been on a committee and sifted through applications and seen the obvious differences between candidates, then you wouldn't know what I am talking about.

Good luck to you and your candidate's search to "try something different" than X. :thumb:

I would say 99% of coaches in the state of KY would say spring practice is beneficial. You really can't compare what Trinity or St. Xavier do, to really any other team. So a coach has been chosen! Thats great for the kids and program. So I am assuming it wont be official until next week sometime? Although, I guess Harrison won the hiring race since it seems there guy is official.

I guess it's a matter of preference. There are only 9 returning players that aren't playing spring sports, not counting the upcoming 8th graders, who couldn't participate in spring practice.

I know being involved is not the reason for said program to win but being around winning is definitely beneficial. Good Luck to Trimble to stay heading the right direction.

What are those loose ends, letting a GOOD teacher go to hire a unproven football coach? Not trying to step on anyones' feet, but I have heard from some people in the area that the new football coach has been selected and pretty much hired with expection of the contract being signed.
