Trimble County's head coaching position is again open

Featured Replies

I am sure it is not easy. I am sure they are doing everything possible and in the process of hiring. Like the other jobs that are open,(Harrison and South Laurel) it would be nice if the school or person in the know, provided a tentative date for hiring. Then those who care about the program or programs can put their faith and support in the committee and principal. They can then know when to expect something and if they can't hire by that date, then they would set another date or at least inform the community/parents/players.

The job was actually posted on April 1st, so the 30 days is up May 1st. There are hopes as to when a new coach can be named, but many don't understand all of the implications involved with teacher certifications and other things that go into hiring coaches. The best thing that those that care about the program can do is to put their faith and support in the committee and principal and encourage any athletes to continue to attend weightlifting.

You would think that a coach with Special ed cert. and 6 years experience at 2 of the best 6A schools in Jefferson County could get an interview. Heaven forbid a program go outside the box a little.

Why does a Coach that has been Coaching at the 6A level want to come to a 1A school for, may I ask? There is a major difference in these 2 levels.

May I ask if you know what 2 programs, did this person Coach at and was he a Head Coach or positions Coach?

Maybe he wants to be a head coach?

Maybe the coach didnt have what the committee was looking for? Just being an assistant at a 6A school in Jefferson County, doesnt qualify somebody for a head coach!

Did said person put in an application? He he willing to only be a coach if there is no position open for him to teach?

As to the bolded, I didn't know that anyone that has spent time at Trinity or St. X applied.

Maybe he wants to be a head coach?

That would answer part of my questionThank you, but still there is a very big difference in the 2 levels thats all I was saying.

Was he an Assitant or not? and Did he apply or not? and what 2 6A programs did he work for is all I was asking. :thumb:

Come on now lets not throw stones or jabs here:laugh: TC did hire a man and he had never been a Head Coach either ( correct me if I'm mistaken) and look how he turned out (Poynter). They, TC, also hired a man that only had Head Coaching exp. at the Middle school level remember (Chism).Still Good Luck in the Search I hope for the best for all.:thumb:

I think Poynter was head coach somewhere in Eastern KY before Trimble. I am not saying that just because you have head coaching experience you are or should be a head coach somewhere else. What I was trying to say is that there are many other things that go into being a head coach or having the qualities a school wants for a head coach than just being an assistant at a 6A school in Louisville.

Coach Poynter had been a head coach at Pike Central for a couple of years prior to coming to Trimble County.

Amen to that. There is big difference in being asst. coach and head coach. Do not care how many A's you have been at.

Like TBG said never heard anyone from X or T that has applied.

Thank you for the correction, my memory is failing a litlle with age:ohbrother: sorry Coach Poynter :thumb: And footballhd you are still correct about the difference in being an assitant and a Head Coach at any Level and having the right qualities for a specific environment, all are different as well.:thumb:

Thanks. Its just my opinion, but seems to be other peoples as well.

It is a good one. You are pretty much always right on target. :thumb:

Position coach that wants to get a head job and try something outside of Jefferson County.
