However, they play fewer postseason games than teams in Kentucky do with less than 100 teams per class ... state championship teams play a maximum of 7 games in Indiana, while Kentucky's play at least 9.

 

Prior to going to four classes, they played essentially the same number of postseason games we did.

With all the games being played and the cost of admission and concessons , it is hard for families to go to all the games. Schools need to lower one of these to help with attendance.

It was announced at the game being over 18k at the finals on Sat. nite. Also said it was the most attended tournament since 91 or 92.

 

I don't think '92 would be high on the list. I still remember the finals between UHA and LexCath, and it was a very small crowd. Most in attendance were watching the UK/Duke game.

I think the '93 tournament was what the previous poster meant. That was the year Marion County made their run to a championship.

Why would it be wrong? If you can't afford to turn the lights on and pay officials, then you have no games anyway. If you reduced the total number of games by 4 (2 home, 2 road), then you might be able to draw a slightly larger crowd. Wasn't that the whole point of the thread to begin with?

 

Kids want to play games. A high school basketball game is a big deal to probably most high schools. Its not like playing an AAU game in the summer. And I don't think you should take games away from the kids. Let the kids play ball!!

The problem is see with the current schedule setup is:

 

(A) They start before football ends. I miss the first Garrard County basketball weekend every season because I go to the state football finals.

 

(B) Too many odd-night games. If you eliminated a couple games, then they would obviously be Tuesday night matchups with teams that don't travel well. There goes a 500 attendance game - games that cost the school money.

 

© Too much competition between girls and boys. I wish the girl's season started three weeks earlier. Volleyball and soccer both end early in October. Play the girls playoffs the last three weeks of the boys regular season (set dates for boys games and then girls tournament games).

Well you can't play as many football games as basketball. Thats the case on every level, but they do not need to cut down on games. The only problem I see with football is there is awful teams making the playoffs and having to travel a long ways to get beat to death.

 

An example is a winless Lawrence Co. had to drive probably 4 hours on a bus to get blown out by Bell Co. in the 1st round of the playoffs. But there is no need to cut down on te # of games.

I think because where football ends late it hurts your idea of not having so many odd-night games. Teams are playing games later and having to play some on odd nights.

I think they would get more attention by not being bunched in the same time frame as the boys.

Listen, I am all about giving the girls an opportunity to play BUT you cant force feed people something that is awful to watch......WNBA anyone.

 

 

Belfry has to play 4 games a week In Jan and Feb because they do not get football players in until 2 week of Dec.
