Wow, first time I have heard that. I thought he was the whole SHelby Valley team myself and quite honestly, I'd say that his shooting percentage for the tourney was good as well. He gave Ethan Faulkner fits from time to time and he made shot after shot to keep his team in the game when needed. Not to knock Shelby Valley, but if you put some big time talent around this kid he will make it a great team. IMO.

 

Don't get me wrong, I love Jarrod Polson's game and he is a spectacular point guard, but Justice is a great point guard as well.

 

Justice was 9-28 from the field. He did a good job getting where he wanted to a lot of times, but there was also a lot of times when he would get into the lane not be able to finish.

 

Hes a fine guard, no doubt, but if your going to shoot 28 shots it would be good to shoot above 33% from the field.

Justice just didn't really impress me to much down at Rupp. He did have high scoring games, but look at the number of shots he took. Polson on the other hand had a great tournament and I enjoyed seeing him play.

That really shocks me that you feel that way about Justice. I absolutely love the way he plays and believe his is one of the top 5 players returning in the state next year. He has the heart of a lion along with tremendous quicknes, leadership and ball handling skills and is a tremendous defensive player too.

It seemed like his percentage would have been higher. I guess I am remembering the moments when he got hot or big shots that he made. Regardless, Kobe doesn't always shoot 45% from the floor. I'd still take Justice over 99.8% of the point guards in the state, with Polson and Rico Johnson being the only ones who I would think about taking over him.

Rice and Mayfield from Holmes, played key minutes throughtout the year especially the tournament for Holmes coming off the bench.

As far as handling the ball, he is a great point guard. But, his scoring ability wasn't great. This year I would have taken Faulkner (Elliott), Sanford (Lex. Catholic), and Riley (Holmes) over him.

But without Justice, would Valley have won the All-A or even the 15th Region? I know he did not have a great game shooting against Elliott County, but he does so much for this team and kept them in the game until the very end.

 

His defense was very good, and as far as ball handling and distributer, no one was better IMO. Sanford, Riley and Faulkner all had far better teams than Elisha Justice had.

From the western part of the state, Shaquille Wilson of Christian Co has to be mentioned in this discussion as well.

I was impressed with Polson of West Jess when I seen him play against Central. I also like Holmes returning trio of J. Johnson, E. Pittman (first team all state) and R. Johnson (second team all state and sweet 16 MVP) that is a ton of talent coming back.

Madison Johnson missed out on a good opportunity to show what he is capable of during the state tourney. He did not play badly, he just never looked comfortable and did not get untracked in the Eastern game. He is one of the best three-point shooters that I have ever seen and hopefully he will get another shot at Rupp next year.

Along with Elisha justice and Garret Polson, two point guards that are truly a treat to watch.

 

No offense intended to these two players as they are certainly quality kids but I would like to see what they would do playing in the 7th,9th or 11th with quality athletic defenders going against them most every night.

 

I think of kids like Zach McElwain at Seneca and Delquan Thomas at Eastern and I have a hard time believing they could not achieve similar numbers if allowed the same number of shots and minutes as Justice and Polson!
