BigSpikes Posted March 16, 2009 Posted March 16, 2009 With Heisman Trophy winner Tim Tebow returning for his senior season, along with one of the best Tight Ends in the country in Aaron Hernandez, two future first round picks on the Offensive Line in Maurkice and Michael Pouncey, the speedy running backs Chris Rainey and Jeffrey Demps, a solid recieving corps infused with one of the best receiver recruits in the country in Andre Debose, and all 11 starters and their first man off the bench on defense, the Gators are loaded and primed to take home their second straight National Championship and their third in four years. My question to you is: Will Florida repeat as National Champions? If you don't think so, who has the best chance to beat them this season?
ColonelCrazy Posted March 17, 2009 Posted March 17, 2009 They're definitely the early favorite. I wish Percy Harvin would have come back. But then again, I'm a Kentucky fan, so it's better off that he didn't. Will Hernandez be the starting TE? I thought Ingram would be back after his injury?
Alabama Larry Posted March 17, 2009 Posted March 17, 2009 SEC Championship Game. Alabama....Had them last year and let them off the hook.
Clyde Posted March 17, 2009 Posted March 17, 2009 SEC Championship Game. Alabama....Had them last year and let them off the hook. Had them with one of their best qb's ever. Next year?
strongopenyon Posted March 17, 2009 Posted March 17, 2009 My guess would be Tennessee on September 19th. Florida has not gotten out of the blocks quickly under Urban Meyer, and Tennessee has, perhaps, the best defensive coach in all of football. I say the Vols have a shot in that they catch Florida early.

BigSpikes Posted March 17, 2009 Author Posted March 17, 2009 Will Hernandez be the starting TE? I thought Ingram would be back after his injury? No, Ingram was already a red-shirt Senior when he tore his ACL. Hernandez is a better Tight End IMO. He is a better pass catcher and route runner, he may not be as fast as Ingram, but he is a heck of a lot better of an overall player IMO. Hernandez will end up surprising people this season. Here are some players from Florida I look to become house hold names during the season: Cornerback Janoris Jenkins-he was one of the cover corners in the SEC last year as a freshman and should build upon almost an entire year's worth of starting experience. Linebacker Lorenzo Edwards-he shared starting time with Outside Linebackers Aj Jones and Dustin Doe, but emerged as the second best linebacker of the bunch. Should start from day one and turn some heads. Defensive Tackle Omar Hunter-one of the top DL prospects in the country for the class of 2008, took a redshirt. If you have ever watched film on him, you will know that he will fit right in with the type of pass rushing Defensive Linemen that Defensive Coordinator Charlie Strong. Safety Will Hill-Hill was the best safety prospect in the country last season and saw some significant time in the later part of the season on defense, but mainly separated himself from the rest of the pack on special teams. Hill is the best safety on the Gators' roster, and should prove it this year. He has the ball hawking skills of Ahmad Black and the hard hitting, nose for the football that Major Wright has. He reminds me of a bigger, stronger Reggie Nelson. Wide Receiver Andre Debose-Debose was one of the best receiver prospects in the country for the class of 2009. Debose does not have the break away speed that former Gator, and future first round NFL pick Percy harvin had, but he has better hands and route running skills than Harvin, and is still extremely fast.
strongopenyon Posted March 17, 2009 Posted March 17, 2009 I know many of you BGPrepsters have little or no use for Lane Kiffin, but he has assembled a strong coaching staff who will have the Vols prepared to compete in the SEC. It is just a matter of time before their talent pool is back up to the level they enjoyed around their National Championship year.

Kiffin already has two warnings from the NCAA. Sure he has Orgeron, and his dad, but something just doesn't seem right about him. He seems a little dirty to me.

It does seem like he has decided to over do the attitude he is trying to create at Tennessee.
John Anthony Posted March 17, 2009 Posted March 17, 2009 I know a lot about OSU and I think there a year away from beating FL. FL has too much experience. OSU is really changing into more of a pure speed team but there gonna be too young next year. Pryors JR year will be very interesting.
