They are just going to have to do away with districts and let everyone compete in the regional tournament. Play first round games on site play the QF, SF, and F at one site like they do now.

How would you structure it? Blind draw completely? Require every team to play so you can seed? Would you still prevent district teams from playing each other in the first two rounds?

The only way I'd do that, is if you essentially divided up the region into four sections, each section containing one team from each district. Determine some order of draw like they do with the regions, and slot the teams in. No teams from the same district could meet before the semifinals.

Nothing would benefit the little man more. Which is it?

I hope that the Realignment proposal that I made has given some major enjoyment to many of you. I think the biggest thing that needs to be realized is that we need to get the Regions right. If the districts within a region don't always make sense that is not as important as getting the Regional Alignments correct! I have enjoyed providing this specuation for everyone to look at.

Like HDE said, they'll never get rid of district tournaments. Far-fetched idea.

I agree. While many of the smaller gyms cannot host a regional tourney, they can squeeze in a district tourney, which is a nice thing for them to get to do.

Shelby County is expecting to open the new HS in the next couple of years now - that schedule has been accelerated.

I'm also hearing that Cornerstone Christian - private school in Shelbyville, KY - is due to come into the 8th Region in the next year or two...

In Oldham County, the plan for East Oldham HS has been put on the back burner - perhaps indefinitely - from what I understand.

I heard that Conerstone was NOT coming in.....how recent is your info Mike?

I would love to see everyone in the regional tourney too. If you have all the teams play each other one time, that would be around 16 games for the region to be able to seed for the tourney. That would leave plenty of games to get better competition if you wanted it. If you have a 17 team Region, #16/#17 plays a play-in game to see who gets to play the #1 seed. Would be a great tourney getting ready for the state tourney.

Also heard they were maybe going to add another school or two in London. Could they possibly be talking about an East and West Laurel school.

There is a West Laurel in the plans for the future. Don't know when that's going down for sure, though.

Is basketball a Performing Art?

Classic. I rarely laugh out loud when reading BGP, but this post was an exception.

Earlier this year, I also heard that Cornerstone was NOT coming in...that they had "decided that they wouldn't be competitive enough". (which I question; they played well against Henry County this year) But at the Region 8 tournament, I heard that they were definitely coming. (who knows for sure? Anybody have a good contact at the school?)

I hope they dont come in. No offense but all the 30th district needs is another Eminence. That would "upset the balance of power" and the 30th would probably go back to a blind draw (which is the stupid, IMO).
