State Redistricting Plan

Featured Replies

A couple of other notes from my plan: The 9th Region has 18 teams, no other region has more than 17. Rockcastle back to the 13th. Adair Co, Green Co, and Hart Co all move to the 4th. Franklin-Simpson, Logan Co, and Russellville move to 3rd. Both Muhlenburgs, Mclean, and Todd Counties all move to 2nd. Livingston Central and Lyon Co move to 1st. Montgomery County moved to 16th

Think you could post your plan here? I'd be interested in seeing what it looked like.

I do hope that by Muhlenbergs, you mean Muhlenberg County, since they'll be consolidated.

From what I read that this new high school for Scott County is supposed to house the Technical-Performing Arts Programs and act as a magnet until the district determines that a new high school is needed.

Is basketball a Performing Art?

The KHSAA and board of control has changed their minds on 3 team districts. They use to not want them. Now with all the consolidation, the KHSAA does not mind three team districts. You will more than likely see Fleming Co. and Lawrence Co. move regions next year.

I haven't read that anywhere on the three-team districts. There's no reason to have any.

They are just going to have to do away with districts and let everyone compete in the regional tournament. Play first round games on site play the QF, SF, and F at one site like they do now.

Why would they have to do that?

64 districts - 4 teams per district - 256 schools

There's quite a bit more than that left, even after consolidations.

They aren't going to get rid of district tournaments — money, money, money.

By my calculations there was 267 boys schools that played in a district tournament this year. I agree with you HDE, no reason to have 3 team districts

Will that be when Billy Hicks retires from coaching?

From what I have read on the Department of Education's website, it is planned for after the 2008 Biennium on the District Facility Plan, which may or may not occur.

Yes :thumb:

I have a complete redistricting plan complete. 38 teams change regions! 3rd Region was the toughest: Here are some of the main thoughts i used: 1st thing was all schools from the same county were put into the same Region, maybe not district but region. This affected the 9th and 10th regions the most. 2nd basis used was Geography. I am sure i messed up in a couple of spots because of not knowing exact locations of schools in each county. I will be glad to share total plan if anyone would like to see:

Biggest Changes: Franklin County Schools moved to 8th out of 11th; Bullitt Co schools moved out of 6th to 5th; All Campbell County schools moved to 10th; 9th Region now all Kenton County and Boone County; Clark County, Paris, and Bourbon now in 11th

Could we see Harrison Co. go with Clark, Bourbon, Paris to the 11th, or move to the 8th Region with Scott Co.? They would be on the border of both regions and in close proximity to both.

Why would they have to do that?

But the schools will split the money from region tournaments, or they can vote to pay out based on how far a team advances. While the numbers average out to four teams a district, the geography doesn't always follow suit.

I hope that never happens.

Like HDE said, they'll never get rid of district tournaments. Far-fetched idea.

They said they would never shoot in anything other than a peach basket and never see the 3-point line come to high school either.....

I would hate to see the District tournaments done away with. The District tournament is like a conference tournament for many schools. Lots of schools will never win a regional tournament but that one year they might put it together and win a District Championship. Need to think about the little guys!

Then we need to class basketball as well as all sports
Not going to happen!

Nothing would benefit the little man more. Which is it?
