I agree with sumoroyal, but the Scott Co. move to the 10th Region makes things work out for putting the old 38th District back together. 37th District would be Campbell Co., Bishop Brossart, Scott High, Calvary Christian, and Silver Grove. The 38th District would be Bracken Co., Pendleton Co., Augusta, and Deming. The 39th District would be mad up of Mason Co., St. Patrick, Fleming Co., and Nicholas Co. and the 40th District will be Scott Co., Bourbon Co., Paris, and Harrison Co.

They won't move Scott Co in the Tenth because the 10th is going to be used for more ninth Region teams. The overflow of Ninth Region teams has to go somewhere and without Clark and Montgomery, everyone is fairly close to NKY. The Ninth and Tenth will be to NKY like the 6th and 7th to Louisville. The drive for our teams in the Maysville down AA is not bad at all and can make it in an hour or less.

Why can't Mason County be moved to the 37th district? Everything always comes back to them being in a district with a Fleming or a Bracken and St.Patrick, etc., that was ok when the top of the hill was farm land, but the times have changed over the past two decades for Mason County, but the KHSAA has not been changing with them. They NEED to be shipped to a more competitive district with like school systems and enrollments.

Sorry, but the KHSAA isn't interested in putting 4 large (even though Mason County is nowhere near the size of the Campbell Counties and the Covington Scotts of the world) schools in the same district if they're 60 miles apart, when there are other schools 20 miles away (or 3 miles away). Ain't gonna happen, and shouldn't happen.

Fleming and Mason are about the same size in the terms of numbers. Fleming County should have NEVER been moved out of the 10th. Lewis Co. is also close, is there any chance they might move into the 10th as well?

This year it was called a torn ACL to their best player Pharas...I don't call that chocking.

 

I totally disagree. Scott County was supposed to be loaded this year. One player, even as great as Phares, should not make a team. A championship caliber team would have rallied around an injured teammate and gained focus. Scott County was still loaded without Phares. Lets also not forget that Vee Sanford and a talented Lexington Catholic team also had something to do with this scenario. They took Scott County to the wire with a healthy Phares.

I know that none of the members of this Blog or any fans of Kentucky High School Basketball want that to happen. Under the current system, Mason County should not be punished for being surrounded by Class "A" enrollment school systems. Also, the last time I looked, Mason County had a Mid Level 3A enrollment. Everyone jumps to put them in the same enrollment class as Dunbar, Campbell County and Trinity. Please do not feed fuel to the Class System of basketball, it is excellent the way that it is.

I disagree with you ....... Scott Co didn't chock...and what I bolded in your statement only proves my point. Catholic did take them to the wire with Phares, so with him out...I really felt that Catholic would win.

This is something most don't realize,Mason is not a big school at all there right there in the middle tier of sizes.Campbell,Montgomery and Clark are almost double there size and thats just some out of the 10th region alone.

There are more than a few who want exactly that. I'm not one of them.

It has always amazed me the size of Maysville and the school enrollment not being larger than it is.

Great stats papa. Now could you should the enrollments of the Schools that was mentioned in this thread that might be moved into the 10th if GRC and Montgomery Co leave. GRC being the largest enrollment and Montgomery Co the 3rd.

Another thing to remember is when Mason Co. moved up to class AAA in football they were in that gray area where they could go either way move up or stay and their enrollment hasn't really increased since then. Remember 1981 when Mason Co. and Simon Kenton were the smallest schools in the state tournament. Mason County as far population and enrollment hasn't grown as much as what people think.
