It has always amazed me the size of Maysville and the school enrollment not being larger than it is.

 

Here's a reasonable statistical explanation.

 

According to the 2007 population estimates from the U.S. Census Bureau, Mason County had an estimated population of 17,190. 5.9% (1014) of those were under the age of 5. 22.7% were under the age of 18 (3902); leaving 2,888 persons aged 5-17.

 

Let's compare that to a random school. I pick Pendleton County. Estimated population 15,058, more than 2,000 fewer than Mason County. However, 5.8% of the population (873) was under age 5; and 24.8% (2861) was under age 18; leaving 2,861 persons aged 5-17. Almost statistically identical to the 5-17 population of Mason County.

 

Now, according to the KHSAA, the 2-year average enrollment of Mason County High School was 816; for Pendleton County it was 919. What accounts for the difference?

 

St. Patrick High School, and their 111 enrollees.

I agree with friedtaters on this one. Logically to also move Montgomery Co to the 11th. If moved to the 16th. A big portion of thier games would be in the Ashland area. That would be like going to the BOK most every away game. The 11th as far as distance goes, would be closer for them.

 

 

Plato to address your post on the influnces some have here in not allowing GRC to go to the 11th: Billy Hick has ALOT of pull and they sent Scott Cp to the 11th. :sssh:

I had heard this eariler of them going back to the 8th, and also staying in the 11th, but as of late I here if GRC moves into the 11th, then someone will indeed be leaving the 11th. If this happens then Scott Co will go to the 10th to fill in the gap of GRC leaving.

And all of this could be happening as soon as next season,right? If Scott was to go to the 8th,would someone have to leave that region?

Possibly but not certainly. Right now the 8th region only has 16 teams. The 9th, by comparison, has 19.
