March 10, 200917 yr Yes. Be careful what you wished for.... Right? Unfortunatley for the Tubster, most only recall the poorest seasons or storylines around the seasons. But when you are averaging a 3.4 seed over a 10 year span, one is doing something correct. I think most recall only making the 2nd round for 3 of his last 4 years. Regardless of the current situation, thats not acceptable. Especially not making it past the 2nd round as a #1 seed.

While it is not acceptable, I think evaluating what your seed is at the end of a regular season is a lot better of an indicator of what kind of team you had rather than evaluating it based on losing in a one-and-done type situation.

March 10, 200917 yr Yes. Some of Ky's most exciting seasons did not culminate in a national championship. I agree. 1975. The late season run by the '79 Team was a magical one to me and that ended in a First Round NIT loss. 1995. 1992. 1993. Those were all great seasons as was '97.

Possibly, but the expectations at UK are generally related to the tournament. I think most of the fan base would be pretty content with 10 loss regular seasons if they got it together and it the final four every 3-4 years. If Tubby had made the final four twice out of 01, 03, 04, and 05 (the 1 and 2 seeds), most people would have been pretty happy.
March 10, 200917 yr Does anyone know what UK's record was following the 66 (Rupp's Runts team). Mind you they had Riley and Dampier both returning as Seniors. The answer is 13-13 with two all-amercians as seniors. This team just hasn't gelled. I thought that the last 16 games of the season last year, we played UK basketball, hard nosed D and we executed on O. With that said, we had a lot of experience on the floor last year. I get as confused as anyone with BCG at times, but I see a lot of good sets and motion on offense. I also see him trying to implement his system. I think he deserves the benefit with this young and unexperience team. If there was a difference it was that Pat Riley was hurt the majority of that season and played well below his previous standard. (Just as Grevey was hurt midway through the 13-13 '74 campaign) Rupp's Runts also had the problem of losing their 2 best leaders in Conley and Kron from the year before and there was no one to fill those roles.

March 10, 200917 yr '96 Cats Best college basketball team ever. That was the best team I have seen in my lifetime. We may never see another team like that with the parity in college basketball these days and kids leaving early for the NBA.
