March 9, 200917 yr I've heard from many people that PCB during spring break is one of the most crazy experiences someone can have... That can be a good or bad thing depending on the person...

March 9, 200917 yr Good.. For sure.. :ylsuper::ylsuper:  Not if your girlfriend is going without you...:ohbrother:
March 9, 200917 yr I went there when in college in the late 90's it was a blast, just make sure you don't end the week picking up trash in an orange vest.
March 9, 200917 yr Its one continuous stream of cars full of ditsy high school girls and hormone-raging, awkward high school boys. There are a bunch of over-priced, run-down hotel shacks, some restaurants that don't have any horseradish for oysters on the half shell, and Spinnakers night club that even the Kentucky Headhunters won't play at anymore. I wouldn't touch PCB with a 10' pole and recommend Destin down the beach, but you high school folks will probably love it.
March 9, 200917 yr Panama City is great. Club Levela is awesome. The beachs are all white sand and the water is a clear blue. Cruising is a must. Most of the old rundown motels are now gone. Replaced by high rise condos.

Almost all of those run-down hotel shacks are gone. They've torn them down, and built high rise condo units. As a city, they want to get away from the 'redneck' vacation spot. They want to cater to families now, and not high school/college students. It's amazing the transformation down there in just a few years. Prior to having our little girl, we used to go down every year in September, and each year a couple of those shacks were gone and replaced with new high rise units. It's a much, much nicer place compared to 10 years ago.
March 9, 200917 yr My son who goes to UK and his friends will be heading to Panama City Tues. evening. That is when my worrying begins.

March 9, 200917 yr Now, that's possible. I haven't been since maybe 2001. We went almost every year from 1999 to 2005. Early on, it was exactly how you described. A lot of shady motels down the strip, and run-down buildings. We always went in September for the cheaper rates, and stayed on the western end of the strip. Plus, the crowds were small that time of year. However, it has received an complete facelift. Birdsfan can attest to this as he heads down every year to hang out with family.

I haven't been in a couple of years but it was starting to really change the last time I was there.
March 9, 200917 yr Get you some snorkeling gear and head over to St. Andrews State Park. Snorkel out around the jetty. It's unbelievable what you can see out there.
March 9, 200917 yr Yes! Go north. Go east. Go south. May I suggest Orman Beach or Ft. Lauderdale. The beaches around Jacksonville are OK, too! Don't forget Key West, now.
