From what I have seen of Boone County they can get up and down the floor and like to push the ball, but it seems like they only do this on teams that they expect to beat. I would say against Holmes they are going to get back and try to sit down in a half court game. They will not beat Holmes but playing up tempo. I think in the end Holmes has too many weapons that can hurt Boone County. I say Holmes pulls it off with a 10 point victory.

After seeing both yesterday, I think Holmes wins by a very slight margin. Rice for Holmes may be the wildcard in this game. Nice player to bring off the bench.

I agree..Boone will no doubt try and make this a half court game, just like they did in the first game. They tried running with Holmes last year and got beat by 20...Coach McQ obviously learned his lesson.

 

Boone plays a pretty solid half court defense though, so the key for Holmes will be to take care of the ball and capitalize on every possession. If Boone gets a lead they'll no doubt start running a lot of time off the clock with their offensive possessions like Newcath did yesterday. I guarantee Coach McQ wants to keep the ball out of Holmes' studs hands as much as possible.

Both these teams are very good, two top 10 teams in the state. Good defenses, not good but above average on offense. Boone Co needs to hit thier shoots and take care of the ball. Holmes crash the boards for put backs on offense, and score in transition. Both teams can play 1/2 court. I am taking Boone Co because of thier interior passing.

I think Boone may push the ball up the floor more than some think. They need points out of transition offense so they will push to get those. If it isn't there, then be patient and work for the good shot. I will be surprised if Boone presses Holmes like they did Highlands in the second half. They don't want or need to push tempo like that in this game.

Boone beat Holmes in the first game by running a good half court offense. They killed them with back door screen/cuts and the "pick and roll" with Mcfarland and Gabbard. If the pass wasn't there, Gabbard was able to get in the lane for easy buckets.

 

Having Pittman healthy in this one will be key for Holmes. I see him being the x-factor in this one which will make Rico's job much easier and allow him to take over when the time comes to turn it up.

As long as Ricardo Johnson plays the point Holmes will have no problem. If he doesn't it could be pretty close.
