As ATM points out unless you know the REAL rules you take the chance of bashing officials for correctly made calls.

 

Scooby is correct . You are INBOUNDS if you're not OUT OF BOUNDS. So, one foot in bounds with the other not touching out of bounds is all you need to be able to touch the ball without a violation.

The only time you can slap the backboard is in an attempt to block the shot. Based on your assessment of the play, this would be considered basket interference.

 

Again, there are a limited number of touches that constitute basket interference. The backboard is not one of them. So the play is legit if the official thinks its a legit attempt to block the shot. If its not, its a technical foul (ie you do not award two points like you would with a BI call).

Well guess what..The foul should of never happened in the first place. The player that was fouled should of been called for illegal touching. This was the inbounce play that was tipped right. The Refs missed this one bigtime. Doesn't the player who puts the ball in play have to establish 2 feet inbounds to be able to touch the ball. This is what I saw from wher I was sitting. Is this right or wrong....

If you hadn't, as most people don't on here, you could have simply said the refs missed calls and were horrible. Clyde and I are simply pointing out that maybe the refs weren't as bad as some people thought they were. When you know the rules it clarifies what a lot of people misinterpret and call "awful officiating". :thumb:

Fair enough...I guess it is a lot easier knowing the rules when you revisit them on a daily basis. So with that said I think the Refs missed some calls and were horrible.:thumb:

I agree with you Thunderbirds. The gray haired fella probably struggled the most. He signaled a 3pointer in the first half for Highlands because he was 15 ft from the shot but he let the bald guy who was on the opposite side of the court overrule him and call it a 2 pt basket. That was the first sign of weakness. When he called the charge on Gordon in the 2nd half it just put the icing on the cake.

 

Gordon couldnt get a break. On the first charging call I thought he did a good job of getting rid ot he ball and shooting before contact was made because he probably knew he was a sitting duck for a charge. Great call on the player control foul but horrible call not counting the basket. The bald guy once again coming in and saying no basket. Im sure a lot of his calls were based on being ridden by Schlarman though.

 

With all this said I wouldnt want their job and I respect that they go out there and for the most part probably do a very good job. It is my right though as a fan to observe and comment as well as give my opinion.
