Jodie Meeks: Coach Told Me To Stop Shooting

Featured Replies

It just keeps getting better.

And after Meeks hit a 3-pointer early in the second half, he felt the brunt of Billy Gillispie’s wrath on the sidelines.

“Meeks and I were standing there after the timeout and he said his coach told him not to shoot anymore,” Shipman said.

Doubly baffling.

Gillispie is disassembling Kentucky basketball one piece at a time. Unbelievable.

Maybe I am taking up for the coach and the team, but I don't think he necessarily meant to just not shoot it. I think Meeks was trying to force too many things and maybe he worded it wrong and should have instead make better shot selections.

That's possible, but its interesting that Meeks would tell his defender that little piece of information.

Maybe he thought saying that would make the guy not guard him:)

I think Billy should run off Meeks, so he can start 5 of his recruits. I mean, who can win with Tubby's players anyway?

IMO, Gillispie meant stop forcing it, not stop shooting.

Shouldn't he have said that?

Meeks shooting is about the only chance UK has to make the tourney. I don't care if he shoots it 50 times a game this weekend!

That's pretty much how I feel, as well. If Gillispie had any sense, he would say, "OK Jodie, we're going to set 14 screens for you this time down the court. As soon as you get open, shoot."

And Meeks will be the next of the long line of players ole Clyde has and will run off while at Kentucky.

:confused::confused:

Where is he going to go? Transfer and sit out his senior year

Any where it wants to go...But I don't see it happening...

And I wonder if perhaps the Florida player took it a little out of context. If Jodie came out and said that, and they had him quoted, I would be little curious. But when the Florida player says that Jodie says it, I get a little sense of distortion.
