RA09
Elliott may not be as good as they are saying. Its tourament time and there are gonna be no easy ones for anyone. Elliott County went to Grayson tonight to face a peaking East Carter team on their home floor. Everyone who follows the 16th region knew this was going to be a hard fought game for whoever won. It's do or die time and your going to get the opponents best shot, espically Elliott County. East Carter had a great team and played well tonight. If Elliott County makes foul shots at their normal percentage then this is a double digit win. Officals were equally bad both ways. The free throw count is a little more lopsided than I imagined it would be but it had no bearing on the outcome of the game. If you watched the game then you realize that. I'm sure all Elliott fans felt they got the short end of the stick and I'm sure all East Carter fans have a mutual feeling. :idunno: Great season for East Carter.:thumb:

A difference that large in FT's compared to the final margin of victory does have a bearing. What is failed to mention is East did play zone for over 3 quarters. Which makes the FT difference even that much larger a factor. In the end, Elliott got the ball to bounce their way in key situations, which determines the winner a lot of times in tight games with evenly matched teams. East has nothing to hang their heads about. A bounce here or there and the outcome could have went the other way. But the KEY stat to the whole game...... 27-
The Hook 2009
You are wrong 3Ball. I call it like I see it on the radio. Sure, I want East to win, but I do not put on Raider colored glasses. I am not a homer by any stretch. If East gets a break, I let you know, if they get hosed, I say that as well. I give the kids on each team as much credit as they deserve and try never to let where I went to school influence how I see the game. QUOTE] I have listened to GoRadio broadcast many games and every bit of this statement is true. He is by the books, if he sees East or whatever opponent get a bad call he is going to enlighten the fans with his opinion of the call whether it is favorable or not. Sure he is going to pull for his team as you and I would too, but he is as good as it gets in calling a game in high school sports. Great job tonight and all season long, Go Radio you are a pleasure to listen too. The best in this area, if you ask me.

I do what I do because I love high school sports and love to promote the players. Lord knows I am not going to get rich doing this, but what's money when you get to do what you enjoy? Lets face it. I get in the game for free, great seat, free food and they pay me for this? I am a very lucky man! Thanks again, I certainly appreciate the kind words!! eccheer
Someone at the game said that he may have said something to the Ref. Billman I believe. From what I hear there were alot of questionable calls by him. Great effort by both teams though, this was a great game to listen to. Congratulations to both teams. Being a ref or a weather forecaster are the only two career choices where you get paid for being right 50% of the time!
EC12
I was at the game and the refs were bad both ways. The free throw count was lopsided because Elliott took the ball to the basket more and East settled for a lot of threes. This was a great game to watch and East played there hearts out. That being said good luck the rest of the way Elliott.
16thBBall Fan
Besides that I think the key was the last min. of the 3rd and the first 2 min. of the 4th Elliott outscored East like 10 or 11 to 2 during that time plus then when east was trying to get back in it they missed some chances at the line with the few they got two front ends. But played hard just a tough draw.

Lion Mania
Great game by both teams IMO. East had Elliott on the ropes a few times, but like any good prize fighter the champs roared back with a response. Too bad East waited til the end of the season to start playing ball. IMO they are clearly the 2d best team in the region and if not for such a poor start this season we would have seen East in the district final and the region final just like last year. I don't know what % East shot from trey land, but a bet pretty darn good. Bair nailed three long balls and Jackson had a few. Again, don't know the percentages but East had to have a high shooting %. Balanced scoring by the Lions with the Faulkners and Ferg all with 16 and both Knipps with 11 apiece. Jared Flannery delivered a big three off the bench tonight. IMO the most difficult and odds stacked against you game in getting to Rupp was played tonight. East always picks one game and plays Elliott extremely tough. This year it was the district game. Congrads to my Lions as you take one more step forward in reaching your goal.
