February 24, 200917 yr Author Glad to hear hes had a good combine, from everything I have heard and read he is a great guy. To be honest I didn't see that many Cincinatti games this year, so somebody help me out with some opinions. Can Barwin be a successful player in the NFL and maybe come in and play right away or is he a Vernon Gholston who was just an absolute beast all around, but didn't break out and barley touched the field last season? I know I'm 1000% biased here, but I fully believe Connor will be an All Pro in the NFL a few years down the road. I was never sold on Gholston FWIW...

I can't say I remember him much last season but those are very impressive numbers and it seems like he's an even better kid. I'll definately be keeping up with him and I wish him well. :thumb:

With those numbers from the combine it certainly looks like he can do so from that standpoint, so I def hope he works out in the NFL. A Cincinatti player making it into the league and being a solid player would be as exciting and fulfilling as a Kentucky player, so from that point of view I really hope he pans out for your sake GT, you deserve it for being that true of a Bearcat fan. As for Gholston I wasn't sold on him either. He played on a good defensive team in an overrated conference. He looked to be chissled from stone, and put up insane numbers at the combine, but no matter how fast you are or how high you can jump, everything is different when that 300 pound tackle is lined up in front of you.
February 24, 200917 yr Just watched some highlights on youtube. He's a bit small but if he adds some weight and can still remain as athletic as he is he might be a pretty good DE in the NFL. Hard to tell now though.

Barwin is one of those rare guys that really takes it to the next level as someone that is around the school every day. I won't deny the fact he won me over on and off the field over the last 4 years as he did everything you could imagine including guarding guys like Oden, Hibbert and Dorsey while holding his own. The team that drafts him isn't getting a run of the mill talent. I've spent hours around him, and he's one of the guys. Today shows he's one of the guys with unreal natural talent. Can't wait for his SR day ceremony on 3/7 at the Shoe.....

I doubt it, but you never know with the move to a 3-4 D. They really like what Ben brings to the TE spot...

Barwin finished among the top performers in the 40 (4.66) as well as the 3-cone and short shuttle. He proved he isn’t simply a straight-line athlete and has the versatility to play as a rush end or 3-4 outside linebacker. I think Barwin will become a very good player at the next level and simply has too much athleticism and versatility not to make an impact. :thumb:

I know a lot of times the surface they run on at the pro days at each school are fast and some scouts add .1 or so to the times.

He was faster than everyone except Underwood who he tied and out ran Mickens and Smith. That's 3 DBs that are going to get drafted. Plus he did it at 251. Dude is just an animal...
