NKY All Stars and POY

Featured Replies

I guess I should have clarified when I made the statement then because I was referring to him being one of the best for his division in nky.

Fair enough.

Wasn't wrong at all...I just now saw your responses. He didn't impress me when I saw him against Holmes, as he really struggled to rebound and keep up with a bigger, more athletic player. After seeing him in several games after I made that comment, I could tell his defense improved since the beginning of the year, so I gave him credit by saying he is one of the better defenders for his DIVISION in nky. He still allowed Maile to drop 26 on him though so not sure how you can consider him one of the best in nky as a whole.

It's hard to say that Romes allowed Maile to drop 26 on him. Romes did everything that he could to defend Maile. Luke made some incredible shots that were all contested.

Ok...not allowed...was unable to stop Maile from dropping 26 on him. Fair enough?

Fair enough! Maile did make some ridiculous shots that left me scratching my head. It never fails when you deal with awards there will always be people who feel snubbed. You can make an argument for many different players for awards but the fact is you only give one. Maybe they could have gone to other players but personal awards should not overshadow the team. Beechwood should be proud that they are going to play in the Region out of the 35th. If I were playing that would be a better award to me.

I agree. :thumb:

On the Div III awards, I was just checking out Beechwood's record and I noticed Beechwood played Calvary Christian twice. First game BW wins 67-47 and second game BW wins 74-50. After seeing that, I think the BW supporters have a legitimate gripe about the awards. When you go 14-0 in Div III and have a player like Beuttel, it doesn't seem right for him to not win the POY award.

Does anyone have the list from last year' date=' or know how to get it?[/quote']

Player of the Year - Love - Villa

Mr. Hustle - (tie) Hamilton - Villa and St. Blanchard - Heritage

Defensive POY - Prusinowski - Calvary

Academic - Javins - Heritage

I remember the same discussion last year regarding Beechwood not having any players on the list. I believe that they were undefeated DIII last year as well.

I think that has to raise some eyebrows. Beechwood goes 14-0 two years in a row and not one player is deserving of a top award in either year. That is almost a little embarrassing for the Div III coaches.

MATT GIESLER - POY!!!!! FAN-TASTIC!!!! Way to go you ol' Muddog!! I know the "gaggle" of Giesler's must be struttin' their feathers!! Shows what hard work, listening to your coaches, and ignoring your Dad can do!! (LOL). Good luck in the tourney!!

How are there no Beechwood players getting the D3 awards when the didn't just beat their competition, they completely destroyed them by an average of 22 points per game.

In my opinion the awards should have been as the following:

POY- Blake Bryan or Beuttel

Defensive player of the year- Romes

Mr. Hustle- Nathan Snyder

The biggest travesty in voting D3 of all time has to be not giving Nate Snyder the hustle award. He is actually Beechwood's all around team leader. Shame on the rest of the coaches.:scared::scared::scared::scared::scared::scared:

Disagree....easy to have the best TEAM, but not the best players. It's not an individual sport, it's a team sport. Don't think the coaches should be embarrased at all. Apparently all have seen all the players that were nominated, and that's what they base their decision on I assume. There may be more to it, as far as whether some players are head cases or punks, or simply some may give a coach a reason not to vote him high on the list, but it isn't one coach.....it's all.

Wow... really no need to refer to any KID like that.

Your right.....apologies. It was a "blanket statement", so lets say head cases or less respected individuals. My poor choice of wording
