I never said they are out to get any one. I say POY is player award not a team award and I believe that the main stat you want to always bring up about Bryan is points. I am not saying that this award is about points it should be about making your team better and what do you measure all about stats, at the top of that list for a point guard (all 3 that we are talking about is ast)!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Bryan has 99, Flanigan 44,Buettel 80. Ast is a true measure of a player getting the ball to team mates. If you are going to say it is how far you get in the all A that is a team measure. Make it TOY. All player are fine player!

I don't think you're getting the concept here. My point is, it's not all about the stats, which you keep bringing up. It's more about how you make your team better whether it be from scoring, getting assists, rebounding, or simply being on the floor and leading your team by being a vocal leader. I'll admit, it also has a lot to do with winning. One thing you've failed to mention though, is while Flanigan is the second leading scorer in nky, his teammate Ethan Glass is the 5th leading scorer in nky. That just goes to show how big of a presence Flanigan is on the floor and despite lacking the assists that Bryan and Beuttel have, his presence allows for other teammates to succeed as well...which is the true definition of a POY.

The young man went to Calvary with Flanigan. I guess you saying Flanigan should get the POY award with out seeing Calvary play holds little water.

I've never said that either, but considering the talent Holmes has this year in Riley, Johnson Brothers, and Pittman, and they are the class of NKY when it comes to talent, I choose to use their team for comparison when referring to other players, to give a player like Romes credit.

I am not Discrediting Flanigan. No one thinks coaches are out to get any one. Just debating, thats what this sites about. I don't have any thing bad to say about any player. And as a fan, like you do, I will promote the school and players that I am a fan of.

I find it very suprising to hear Blake Bryan did not win the DIII award. And even more suprised to hear it wasn't a Beechwood kid who stole it from him.

 

Teams design their defense to stop Bryan. He is their focal point, and yet he still puts up 30 a game.

I haven't seen the young man who won the defensive POY award, so I can't comment on that, but I can say Romes is without a doubt one of the best defenders in NKY. He would most likely start at Holmes because of that as well.

I tend to agree with you on Flanigan. What are your thoughts on Romes not being Defensive POY? That is the one that I thought was clearly wrong. And really that is the only selection out of all three divisions that I question.

 

What I think about this is that since the DIII coaches vote, they only see him twice..maybe three time per year, and possibly he had a few off games defensively against 1 or 2 teams. Wouldn't take much to push him into 2nd place, particularly if his best efforts may have been vs. DI or DII teams which did not vote for DIII candidates....just a thought

Because contrary to your belief, there are other players deserving and other teams besides Beechwood, which is apparent by the votes:rolleyes:

I agree that the boys from Beechwood should have received some recognition, but that is how it goes sometimes. Flannigan is a very nice player and deserving of any awards that he receives. But take Blake Bryan off of Villa and they might not win a game. Like him or not the kid has talent and put up amazing numbers this season.

Wasn't wrong at all...I just now saw your responses. He didn't impress me when I saw him against Holmes, as he really struggled to rebound and keep up with a bigger, more athletic player. After seeing him in several games after I made that comment, I could tell his defense improved since the beginning of the year, so I gave him credit by saying he is one of the better defenders for his DIVISION in nky. He still allowed Maile to drop 26 on him though so not sure how you can consider him one of the best in nky as a whole.
