mcpapa Posted February 20, 2009 Posted February 20, 2009 ...Is it better to make the tournament and suffer an embarrassing loss, or not to make the tournament at all? A post on another thread got me thinking about this. I would think it's more positive to at least make it to the dance, but that's me. Is it better for recruits to see the Cats in the tourney, even if they fall flat? I'm not saying this will happen, should they be selected. Just asking the question, because the point was brought up in another thread that it would be better "never to have loved at all", rather than "to have loved and lost", to coin a phrase.
ScarHeel Posted February 20, 2009 Posted February 20, 2009 Not a die-hard Cat fan but any fan of any team would rather have their team make the big dance and get embarrassed than the N.I.T. Right????
MSUEagles Posted February 20, 2009 Posted February 20, 2009 IMO, its critical to make it to the tournament even if you are an 11-seed and lose in the first game.
AHSPanther23 Posted February 20, 2009 Posted February 20, 2009 I agree with MSUEagles, better to be in than not be in at all.
ScarHeel Posted February 20, 2009 Posted February 20, 2009 How many years in row has U.K. made the big dance??? Nevermind, 17 years in a row. From '92-'08.
gametime Posted February 20, 2009 Posted February 20, 2009 Change of pace. 1st round loss or NIT title???
MSUEagles Posted February 20, 2009 Posted February 20, 2009 Change of pace. 1st round loss or NIT title??? I'll take a first-round loss. The NIT is last resort only, IMO.
D IT UP Posted February 20, 2009 Posted February 20, 2009 Change of pace. 1st round loss or NIT title??? Well if there going to hand us the NIT title then we'll have to hang us a banner. Just kiddin Going to the NIT is a downgrade even if you do lose the first round
gametime Posted February 20, 2009 Posted February 20, 2009 5 more games for a young team including 2 in MSG. Just sayin...
HammerTime Posted February 20, 2009 Posted February 20, 2009 5 more games for a young team including 2 in MSG. Just sayin... What if they don't win it or lose in the 1st round game of NIT. Talk about ouch...
