February 21, 200917 yr Author You just had to do it again, didn't you?? I'm sure some would let to take some things they said back. I said I would be laughing at some of those post when UK was in the NIT in 3 years. Well it only took 2.
February 21, 200917 yr Author :thumb: Call me crazy, but I never expected Billy G to make it to the final four within his first two seasons. Heck, I might even give him 4 or 5 to turn the team around. It's hard to make a delicious steak when all you have to work with is old cheap bologne. That was pretty much the point of the whole thing. People wanted change and weren't willing to accept the fact that it was going to take a lot more time than they wanted to realize.
February 21, 200917 yr That was pretty much the point of the whole thing. People wanted change and weren't willing to accept the fact that it was going to take a lot more time than they wanted to realize. I thought the point of the whole thing was that, for some odd reason, people were so loyal to the Tubby that they would jump on any chance to attack his predecesor, whoever it may have been. Personally, I'm just glad Tubby's gone. KY may be 19-8 right now, but chances are pretty good if Chuck Haye's isn't on this team, they'd probably be 19-8 or worse under Tubby right now too.
February 21, 200917 yr Posted this in another thread. Seems applicable here. Let's see. With 4 games remaining the Cats are 19-8. That's the best record with 4 games remaining in 4 years. '08-'09 season 19-8 '07-'08 season 16-10 '06-'07 season 18-8 '05-'06 season 17-9 If you ask me it looks like we're improving. Donovan was my #1 choice BCG was my #2 choice.
February 26, 200917 yr If you really like Tubby Smith, which I do, then you know it was best for him to move on.
February 26, 200917 yr Author If you really like Tubby Smith, which I do, then you know it was best for him to move on. I was sad to see him go but it was about unrealistic expectations.
February 26, 200917 yr I was sad to see him go but it was about unrealistic expectations. :thumb: I agree, I hated to see him go also, especially due to the way he had to exit. I also agree with you, though it hasnt been said in this thread, that BCG must be offered a true chance to build his team.
February 26, 200917 yr I was sad to see him go but it was about unrealistic expectations. Was it really unrealistic to expect him to make changes to his coaching staff after the last two years they had.
February 26, 200917 yr Author Was it really unrealistic to expect him to make changes to his coaching staff after the last two years they had. Not for people to think Billy G would come in here and the program wouldn't skip a beat.
February 26, 200917 yr UK is just not a National Power any more. I don't see UK making it to a final four for at least 5 years.
February 26, 200917 yr Not for people to think Billy G would come in here and the program wouldn't skip a beat. Define not skipping a beat. UK probably is not going to the NCAA this year, but if they somehow do, they'll have achieved what Tubby did in his last two years. The program really hasn't been in a good place since 04/05.
