I know nothing of Wirth's relationship with Blasingame.

 

I do know that Covington Catholic could do a lot better than Blasingame. I'll leave it at that.

 

One, Wirth has talked to Blasingame in the past for coaching jobs, including CCH.

 

Two, Blasingame is a solid coach so unless you have played under him you have no room to talk.

I heard that Dave Brossart is interested in the Newport head coaching job.

Coach Wirth was introduced tonight and delivered the ball to the student halftime/halfcourt shooting contest at the Cov Cath - Pendleton County basketball game. At the insistence of the P.A. announcer he took the first shot from about 50 feet out and darn near sunk it.

Off the top of my head, I want to say that CC did play under "Blazer". If not, I have....and I'll say the same thing that ColonelCrazy did. Wirth can do much better.

 

And in response to an earlier post, Acito was offered a spot and declined. He'll be coaching D-Line at Mt. St. Joe.

Blazer is a solid football man but I agree that he's probably not the right guy at this time.

Ok, well I have room to talk. And Blazer isn't what Covington Catholic needs.

Badin is a class program. Always have a tough team and very disciplined athletes. If Coach Wirth has been successful there, he will do well in Park Hills.

You are correct jbwill2, Wirth is a very good coach. Cov Cath is very lucky to land him this time. I'm not going to sit here and say that they are going to beat Highlands year in and year out, but I can say that there will be a solid foundation again, just like under Lynn Ray. He is someone who wants to be at Cov Cath. I belive that he would have stayed at Badin for a while, but the chance to coach at Cov Cath is something he could not pass up.

Honestly, Wirth should have been the HC at CCH for a few years now. As I've said for awhile, Clines/Guidugli did not do a good job (read: did not listen to Coach Ray enough) when finding a new coach when Ray retired. Is Rodenberg a good coach? Obviously. Was he the right hire for CCH as a PROGRAM...not in my opinion. I won't even really say anything about Brossart other than the fact that he was in over his head from the get-go. (Queue Park Hills Mafia slams).

 

Wirth is a good coach who is very passionate about faith and football. Having played for him, I'm very happy with the hire and think he'll do well because he'll really involve himself in the CCH community which is a big part of being a head coach, I think.
