CovCath hires new football coach - Dave Wirth

My young friend, I too am wondering who the posters keep referring to when they use the term "Park Hills Mafia"! I have been around CovCath for a rather long time, longer than you have been alive and I would like to know who I should be looking out for also. You see, I understand that Principal Bob Rowe is the Boss and is the only Boss (well except for the Bishop) when it comes to decisions to be made on behalf of CovCath.

Don, I mean Theoldguy :D, you guys have thinner skin over the PHM matter than some Highlands folks had with Rodenberg referring to Highlands as that team from Ft. Thomas instead of calling us by our proper name. :jump:

If the Bishop is the Boss, what does that make the Pope?

Ironic that the true boss is back in Italy! :D

(P.S. In case LBBC reads this, yes, the true boss is God, not the Pope :D)

At least Rodenberg doing that was actually happening. And it worked. I literally have no idea what the Park Hills Mafia is, and I don't even know what the purpose is of bringing it up. I guess if the point is to rile up CovCath posters, then it has worked a little because I have devoted a few posts to it.

Does anybody know if Coach Wirth will be looking at Bill Blasingame's services. I know that Bill has helped Boone in the past couple of years understand that there is more to football than running between the tackles. Bill would be a great addition to any program.

No idea but Bill was an assistant coach for the freshman team at CovCath as little as 5 years ago.

Ln, when I look at my 2006 KHSAA Sweet Sixteen Basketball program and right there on page 102 under boys state tournament records listed in alphabetical order under "F" I find Fort Thomas Highlands with a 9-12 overall record. So at least in the eyes of the KHSAA it is the Team from Fort Thomas..... :idunno: :notworthy::D:lol:

I doubt it.

What type of offensive and defensive style can we expect to see from Coach Wirth?

One article I read said he runs the spread offense, similar to what Rodenburg ran.

Also, today's paper said he is bringing assistants from his current job. I would expect his staff to be a mix of those assistants and perhaps assistants from the current staff. Wirth is not a N. Ky. guy so most of his coaching ties are probably not on this side of the river. Although I am sure Coach Ray may offer some thoughts if asked.

Well then it must be so. :D

We wouldn't even know they existed if it hadn't been for Cov Cath posters calling them out by name.

That's better than the 9th region Baseball tourney last year when they were referred to as Highland Heights. Actually that is done more often than most would think. That just shows people's ignorance. That is more of a disrespectful thing than TFFT. Don't like that either. I think your the program also has Highlands listed or at least it used to.

I'm not saying you are lying- but I must have missed it. Can you direct me to those posts?

I doon't think they still exist. It was a few years ago.

Yeah, it's done by the Cincinnati TV news programs all the time. You would think they'd know their market a little better than that. As for the "Fort Thomas" name, I've had several folks from down state tell me that "Ft. Thomas" is the only name they know us by.

OK. I searched for the word "mafia" and the oldest reference that I could find (regarding CovCath) was on 10-29-2008, by a poster named Tom Petty. Perhaps the search function does not go back far enough, although I know it went to at least 2006. I'm intrigued. Maybe I can do a report on the Park Hills Mafia. If I did though, I doubt it would be non-fiction- probably would be considered a work of fantasy. :thumb:

Okay, we'll leave it at that.

As for the search function, it does go back a while, but posts are routinely culled from the system to make for more server space. So it's likely that those old CCHS debates are gone now. Send me a PM if you like, I'll tell you more...of the little that I can remember.
