Highlands 70 Scott 63

Featured Replies

No O'Conner for Scott in the scoring column - anyone have info? Did he play?

He played, but only took four shots at most. It looked to me as if he was bothered by the physical play by Highlands big men. At one point I thought an all out brawl was going to break out with Nikola and somebody from Highlands maybe Grubbs? Of course nothing happened as these kids were smart enough to hold their tempers, but this just shows how physical the game really was.

And lost. Congrats Birds.

Yes. I realize that. I was there.

I said in the prediction thread that the Birds defensive intensity would really frustrate Scott down low.

Yea, I thought Nikola played a pretty good game and O'Connor pulled down some rebounds, but overall I would say Highlands bigs won the battle.

Grubbs is the unsung hero for the Birds down low. He might not put up the same offensive numbers as Dill or Watson, but banging with him down low the whole game really wears the opposition down.

I agree as is Lother especially with the game he played tonight. He has a very high basketball IQ and has proved that he can play in physical games even though he is smaller. Also he has some range. I think the one he hit at the end of the third quarter was probably a step behind NBA land. He can step up when someone like Grote has an off game.

Lother is definetly one tough hombre for his size. I watched him go toe to toe a few times with Pittman in the Holmes/Highlands game. He looked like an elementary kid next to him but stood his ground.

Sounds like a good game between the #3 teams in regions 9 and 10. The good guys won this time!!!!! :D Congrats to the Birds.

The good guys won?:puke:

O'Conner got into foul trouble in 1st Q on some terrible calls. Took one shot all game. He had 3 or 4 assists and many times the offense started through him up high. Refs let the battle inside get out of hand on several occassions which favored HHS.

I have never been impressed with the 9th region officials.

They are taking apps. maybe you should fill one out if you are that good of a bleacher ref.

Isn't the complaint normally that the 9th calls it too tightly?

Zack "attack" Lother...way to go you old Muddog!! Takes a lickin' and keeps on stickin'....the J!!! Heard the big boys were playing rough with you? Don't worry...Tyler "Baby Shaq" Grubbs has your back! Nice win Birds! Keep the MoJo goin' baybeeeee!!

Very physical game with out a doubt. Not trying to say that the calls would have changed the game, but there was definetly some horrible calls that favored Highlands in this one. Learn from it and get better Eagles.

Was there truly trash talking going on as the Enquirer writer reported on a foul by Nikola on Lother? If so, was there a T?

Smith was the one who fouled him on a fast break. Not Nikola. Lother then walked toward Smith and Nikola stepped into the situation, then the refs stopped it all.
