Imo Arnold is a top 10 player in the region right now. It's just a matter of playing time for him.

 

He will start getting more IMO after tonight. He showed he is a player, he just needs to keep his emotions in check. When he gets frustrated or gets his buttons pushed he becomes very chippy.

Him and his brother are probably the most coachable two on the team, and at times you can get them mixed up on the court because they both have that same demenor. They don't rush or force anything like other players at this level. Some teams that I have seen have a "star player" who tends to force things and Rico and JJ both let the game come to them.

 

I agree with what you say about his brother also. I would like to see Ricardo a little more aggressive offensively. When he doesn't shoot others tend to force the issue a little to much at times. In a big game it could be an issue. They're a tremendous team. I thought Highlands did a very good job tonight!

A rematch in the 9th Region finals between these two would be AWESOME.

About Rico, I think he know's he can get to the basket whenever he wants and at the line he is a good shooter. He can score whenever. I think when the times call for it he can take over any game, the question is will he.

 

As far as Highlands, I couldn't agree more. When Holmes jumped up big in the third I was waiting for things to get ugly, but a couple key buckets, some balls bouncing there way, and things and the Birds were right back in the thing. That says alot about the character there coach has tought his players. Anyone gets down big in a game they SHOULD/ARE "SUPPOSED TO" lose the easy thing to do is lay down, the Birds didn't take the easy road tonight and that says alot about that program.

They are the glue for Holmes. They bring it everyday in practice for Henley. The drive these two have is rubbing off on the whole program. Two very mature young men with a great work ethic on the court and the classroom. Two real class acts. J.J and R.J. deserve all the pub they get. It has been well earned.

Good win for the Bulldogs. Hopefully they can run the table and represent the 9th Region as State Champions. I don't see anybody in the 9th Region beating them.

Highlands now has 4 regional losses, and they beat Boone, so three of those losses are unexplainable. Highlands has to play consistent in districts and regions, they have lacked consistancy this year but I would love to see a rematch to see who reps the 9th at Rupp.

Looks like balanced scoring from the Birds as well as Dogs. Pittman did have a big game with 22.

 

If you're a Birds fan, you gotta feel good about Watson and Grubbs being the two leading scorers for the Birds. Both had GREAT all around games and crashed the boards hard tonight.

 

For Holmes fans, seeing Pittman with 22 let's me know two things:

1. Henley did a great job in settling him down after a tough game against Dixie.

2. If Pittman plays to his abilities and just focuses on playing the game, no team in nky or the state, IMO, is going to stop him.

 

Luckily for me, I'm a fan of both so I get the best of both worlds.

We have to be careful counting our chickens before the eggs hatch, I didn't see Scott taking them to OT and losing by 1 either. With that aside though it will take a poor night by the dogs and an hot night by the opponets for it to happen. They are very very good.
