2009 Russell

Don't know much about what they have coming back, but I will predict that Russell will field a pretty good team. Great coaches, great tradition, great community, they are just winners. A down season for them would be a pretty nice season at most schools. Best of luck to Russell, and all area teams this upcoming season.

Thank you. I have great respect for the Russell program they just do things the right way. The same can be said of your Rams as well.:thumb:

It seems like there are only a few Russell supporters with computers or willing to pay $15.

Russell imo will be fun to watch this year. They have an abundance of receivers and backs which leads to the first problem, an experienced QB. Maybe passing league will help. The second problem will be the OL. After seeing some of the boys they have been hitting the weights and I was quite surprised. I think Russell will be better than most think. I look for them to be a bit more creative in the offensive department.

Ok cinky, I trust you, and I believer everything else that you said, but do you really believe the above statement?

I said a bit. I know how that sounds, but I believe it.

:thumb: I do believe that they have more than the one or two pass patterns that they would run in years past. Years ago Russell may have had more pass patterns/plays in their book but it seemed like they only ran one or two and they were always the same ones. Raceland was the same way for years.

Rfcincy, you would know much better than I but it seems that McGlone has pretty much given his assistants/staff much more control over everything they (Russell) do. That is certainly not meant as any kind of slam on McGlone at all, just something that I have noticed and amy be wrong.

Sounds like a decent conference to me :thumb:. We had a thread on a "mythical" conference here on BGP a while back. Looking at this list, with everyone except Fairview with several common opponets this could be the start of another one.

Don't forget East Carter in all this common opponent talk...The Raiders play Russell, Fairview, Raceland, Greenup, and Boyd County...just thought that East might like to get in on this mythical championship!

Welcome East Carter to fake conference. It would be cool though.

Bring back the NEKC(NorthEasternKentuckyConference) I remember it was Russell, Raceland, Wurtland, Greenup(no football) and McKell. I can't remember was Boyd or Cattletsburg or Fairview in it?

I've heard that Ivan McGlone was going to try to work something new in to his gameplan to try to offset the talent level since it's not as high as what Russell is used to. This uncnfirmed, but I have no doubt that what ever the case, Russell fans need not worry. This is one of our areas truely great programs year in and year out. I always look forward to seeing them play.

I agree...you may see him change a few things only because of the lack of experience at key spots. People would be surprised what all is in Russells playbook though. They just don't run them. I can remember learning new plays that were only ran twice in a season.

I'm sure glad Coach Maynard is a Russell alumnus.
