illegal is a strong word.

The ultimate determination in the courts was that Highlands was in the right to play him. Also, there is further legal proceedings that will be filed to have the wins that Highlands had earned on the field in 2004 restored based on the courts findings that Highlands was within its right to play the player in question.

How about the fact that the kid was denied his lawful right to play in a state championship game by a court system that determined after that fact he had a right to?

I know that the Bell Cty folks feel very strongly that they were wrongly denied in the game in 04 and will never acknowledge that it was what it was, a tough loss in a good game that was legit but........

:thumb: Nice post! I sure am glad that they stuck to the fight and didn't give up! It's sad that young man had to miss out in playin in the State game, but he still went on to play at OU! Anyword on how he is doing there?

He did call Bell (and Johnson Central too).

How do you know that?

Home and away situation would not work out. I wish they could get it done. Bell as well as HHS were needing an 09 home game.

How do you know that?

Let's just say it came from a very reliable source associated with Highlands football.

Then what is the verdict? Have either one of these schools expressed interest in playing HHS?

Last I heard (which was probably 7-10 days ago), Dale had contacted both schools but neither had responded with a yes or a no. If I have time today, I'll see if I can get an update.

If I was Dudley I would jump on this offer in a second. I would even agree to travel to FT Thomas next year at whatever expense. The attention that the Highlands program will be getting with this group of seniors next year will be unbelievable. I am sure that Dudley has someone:D or a few players that he would like to expose to the College recruiters. Sure the College boys know what is at Bell Co and would have the same interest as they would if they never played Highlands but i can bet the spotlight would be on a larger scale with the people that are surrounding the Highlands program right now. So what better way to help your players by playing in a Big Time game.

What I heard down here in Bell Co is that the game that Bell has op0en on their schedule is still pending. They are waiting on the contract from another school. This was a few days ago and I haven't heard if it has came in yet or not. I know that Bell sent the contract to Soddy Daisey out of Chattanooga and they are waiting the return of it. Coach Hilton has been out of town I have been told and I didn't see him at the Bell/Middlesboro basketball game the other night.

From the talk of the HHS people I don't think playing them would help Bell's players with exposure. :ohbrother:

Alcoa on the other hand typically produces a number of D-1 players each year.

Maybe HHS should go after Alcoa. Looks like they are better suited for the Birds. Multiple State Championships with several coming recently. Could be a high profile game.

So unless Alcoa has a Al Michaels who has a son who plays on the football team, I highly doubt Alcoa would be better suited to help recruit their football players than say a Highlands at this moment. Sometimes it's not really what you know, it's who you know.:D

And right back at ya!!!!!:ohbrother:

According to my sourcres you might not get an answer today with school being off.

I would love to see Highlands start playing some more teams like a Raceland or a Middlesboro for example instead of going accross the river to get a Cincinnati team to play. But that is another issue.

I would guarantee that Raceland would play but I know that Middlesboro won't. Middlesboro won't even play Bell Co anymore so I know that they won't play Highlands.

No disrespect but what would Raceland gain by playing a team like Highlands. What do they take away from this game.
