No disrespect but what would Raceland gain by playing a team like Highlands. What do they take away from this game.

I will not speak for the coaches, but I would not have been surprised if Coach Vanderhoof would have taken Highlands up on their offer, if the dates would have matched up.

 

I know Highlands is a great team, and a great program, but will all do respect, people used to say the same thing when Raceland started playing Ashland, now Raceland holds a three game winning streak against Ashland. Then two years ago when Raceland started playing Russell, people said that Raceland would never beat Russell, we know have the trophy that goes to the winner of the Raceland/Russell game after only two years of playing Russell.

 

People have been saying what does Raceland have to gain by playing such and such school for years. Am I saying that Raceland would beat Highlands? No. But, Raceland could take plenty from a game with Highlands. Do you think that Raceland would play anyone in 1A that is as good as Highlands?

 

Don't think that Raceland wouldn't play Highlands, I don't know of them ever shying away from a team, no matter the size, the record, the history, or the tradition; win or loose.

 

Highlands must have had a reason for calling and asking for a game, I would say they wanted the win, plus wanted a quality team to play.

 

Why would Raceland play Highlands? The same reason that people ascend Mt. Everest. Because it is there. Conquer the mountain, conquer the world.

By the way that is my point. To beet Beechwood and other quality teams, a school like Raceland has to play teams that are of the same quality. And Highlands fits the bill.

So can anybody tell me since this is the Bell Co/Highlands game thread why Dudley left Bell Co and Coached Bourbon Co for a short time only to return to Bell Co. What the heck was that all about. I have my own theory why but I would like to hear some other reasons why for his short hoodini act.

Coach Hilton also built up Breathitt Co's football program only to leave there and come to Bell Co. I guess he was just ready to build another program, but missed Bell Co. Theres just something special (that he built btw) about Bell Co. football.

That would be like Dale Mueller wanting to go elsewhere and coach and then think he would be welcome back into Ft Thomas with open arms after walking away. I agree Log Mountain Boy he wanted a new challenge in his coaching career and he took it. After time in Bourbon he realized that Bell Co is where he wanted to be. Bell Co has always been home to him IMO.

Now, now you 2. I don't want to have to step in and seperate you. If he wants his kids to go to the other side of town so be it. He just won't be able to enjoy the "man room" any more. :sssh:
