Prayers for Western Kentucky

Featured Replies

Kentucky's utilities have really been hit hard between this Ice Storm and the wind storm back in September. I'd say this will likely take much longer to clean up due to the shorter days and much colder temperatures. Bad situation all around, I hope everyone stays safe and hopefully we catch a break and don't get hit with this next snow storm.

And that is just one of many utilities. I don't envy the work these folks are doing and will continue to do. Kenergy and the other utilities will have a TON of employees on OT trying to get everyone back on.

No doubt. They are predicting some wind this weekend which will only make it worse.

Does anyone know where Grayson Co. is?

My in-laws in Princeton say it's unreal down there. They even ran out of water. Hopefully things get better real soon.

Just got off the phone with a good friend from Mayfield. He has an older son that he just today finally got in touch with. No electricity, phone, but does have some cell service finally. He says it looks like a scene from "The day after tomorrow" there. He just went and got his generator that he ordered Tuesday to try to restore some sense of normality to his home. I wish them luck and they're in my prayers.

My parents are without water, and my dad is away for work, so just to get my mom water to flush the toilet, I had to spend 2 hrs knocking down icecicles to fill up the bath tub so she could have water to flush the toilet. It's insane!

It's one thing to be without power for an extended amount of time, but with temperatures getting into the single digits this will be a harsh weekend for many throughout the state.

Read my thread on Murray State Closed for a lot of information, and yes they did say two to three months until everything would be back to normal in some parts of WKy....

I didn't realize it was this bad in western KY. I can't imagin being without power for this long, especially in the dead of winter. I'm hoping and praying the storm predicted for Sunday-Tuesday blows out into the Atlantic.

Prayers from the Ramblers for all of the people in Western Ky. and other parts of the state that have been affected so badly by this storm and that you get a good break in the weather to help get things back before anything else hits you. My father in law in Greenup has been w/o power since Monday night as well. We were lucky at our house this time in that we did not lose power.

I know that our area is expecting another major storm (Nor'easter)this coming Monday - Wednesday depending on how far east or west it goes. Imhope and pray that this one will not be as bad as some think, they are expecting more snow than ice this time.

We finally got power back tonight. Hopefully it stays on.

FF just left with his unit to go help people in Grayson Co. They will be gone 4-8days. Hopefully things get moving there.
